Job summary

OSI Maritime Systems is hiring a Software Engineer 3 to design, develop, test, and maintain OSI software products. You will work with multidisciplinary engineers to deliver software to end users, emphasizing collaboration and ownership.

Requires 4–6 years in software, real-time interfaces, and strong skills in C/C++ on Windows with 2D/3D graphics, OpenGL, GPS, TCP/IP, and real-time systems. Occasional travel and security clearance are expected.

Qualifications

• Education: degree in Computer Science, Software, Electrical or Computer Engineering, Engineering Physics or Mathematics.
• 4–6 years in a software environment with real-time interfaces to external systems.
• Experience in ISO 9001 compliant software engineering is an asset; defense/aerospace exposure is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Follows OSI’s SDLC, documented processes, coding standards, ISO-9001 guidelines, and safety procedures.
• Develops high-quality C/C++ code, uses version control, participates in peer reviews, fixes defects and tickets.
• Prepares software specifications, manages requirements for new features, designs and estimates work.
• Identifies and resolves technical challenges; communicates deadlines, risks, and project objectives.
• Produces technical documentation and supports multidisciplinary teams and sales.
• May support concept-phase activities, prototypes, test procedures, lab setup, deployment, and customer support at sites or ships.
• May act as Technical Lead by delegating work and reporting status to the Project Manager.
• Provides technical guidance, onboarding, and buddy-program support for new staff.
• Interfaces professionally with customers, prioritizes requests, and supports usability, safety, and security.
• Recommends improvements to software development guidelines and tools.
