Job summary

CN is seeking a Supervising role in Mechanical (Car) at its Canadian operations. The position oversees railcar inspection, maintenance and repair, ensuring safety and efficiency in a 24/7 environment across main terminals and line points.

You will lead union and non-union staff, coordinate with safety and operations teams, and drive reliability targets. Applicants should have strong electrical/mechanical background, multiple years of supervisory and rail shop experience, and relevant engineering

Qualifications

  • Electrical and Mechanical experience.
  • Minimum 4 years supervisory experience of both union and non-union Employees.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in railroad Mechanical Shopcraft or comparable position.
  • Any experience for these above would be considered as an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Coach and train Mechanical employees on safe and productive work procedures.
  • Establish and enforce safety standard operating procedures and compliance.
  • Lead day-to-day operations of a 24/7 shop through unionized staff.
  • Oversee maintenance, inspection and repair of railcars and locomotives.
  • Monitor safety and performance metrics and provide feedback to teams.

Electrical and Mechanical experience
Supervisory experience
Railroad shopcraft experience
Bilingualism: French and English

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
Technician or Technologist Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical
High School Diploma
Valid Driver's Licence
Any designation asset
