Job summary

voestalpine Railway Systems Nortrak Canada is seeking an Assembler for our Niagara facility to grind, weld, fit, and assemble turnout components per engineering specifications. You will work with steel, iron, and manganese rail parts to build track work assemblies.

Responsibilities include assembling switch points, frogs, and plates, using hand and power tools, and safely operating cranes. A team-oriented environment with emphasis on safety and quality is emphasized.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or GED preferred.
• Welding, Forklift and Crane certification preferred.
• Ability to read work orders and blueprints preferred.
• Experience with measuring tools preferred.
• Basic mathematical calculation experience in adding and subtracting whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
• Experience in Railroad Industry is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assemble various turnout components such as switch points, frogs, plates, etc.
• Operate hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
• Build specialty track assemblies for the railroads.
• Safely operate jib and overhead cranes.
• Routine cleanup of work area.
• Work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment with minimal supervision.
• Adhere to Nortrak’s Safety, Quality and Environmental Procedures, Practices and Policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
