We are seeking a Research and Development (R&D) Technician

This onsite role is based in Burnaby, BC.

Meaningful Work You Will Be Part Of

The R&D Technician will support engineering activities related to the development of next-generation products and manufacturing processes, as well as improvements to current processes. The technician will report to the Mechanical Engineering Manager.

Your Responsibilities Will Include
  • Assembling and building prototypes for new products and processes following minimal instructions
  • Assembling, building, and testing new production equipment with mechanical and electrical components
  • Performing lab testing activities: collecting raw data and providing it to engineering for analysis
  • Maintaining clean, organized, and well-maintained lab spaces and equipment
  • Performing formal rework on non-conforming products
  • Designing and building simple tools and fixtures for engineering activities
  • Providing feedback to Engineering on manufacturability and improvement opportunities
  • Drafting step-by-step instructions for new processes
What You Bring to the Team

Ideal attributes include:

  • High school diploma
  • At least 2 years of experience as a Manufacturing Technician in a regulated industry (medical devices, automotive, aerospace)
  • Experience with Good Manufacturing Practices and working in a cleanroom
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination, especially with microscopes
  • Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong communication and technical documentation skills
  • Interpersonal skills such as maturity, teamwork, respect, tact, and discretion
  • Adaptability to changing priorities
  • A proven track record of productivity and success
Compensation

The total cash compensation range (base salary + 5% RRSP contribution) is expected to be CAD 56,000 - CAD 69,000 annually. Salary offers will be based on experience, education, and qualifications. As a permanent employee, you will participate in Kardium’s stock option plan.
