Job summary

The Saskatchewan Research Council (SRC) invites applications for a Quality Supervisor to lead the Quality and Administrative team within Lab Services in Saskatoon. You will oversee the quality assurance program, drive audits, and coordinate continuous improvement across laboratory operations.

You will engage with staff and clients to address quality concerns, manage NCRs, and support new analytical method implementations while guiding documentation and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible laboratory experience, including experience supporting or maintaining ISO 17025 accredited quality systems.
  • Previous experience providing day-to-day work direction, coaching, training, or supervision to staff is considered an asset.
  • Experience with analytical laboratory processes and method validation is considered an asset.
  • Experience in geochemistry and uranium, rare earth element (REE), precious metals or base metals exploration industries is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency with laboratory information systems, quality documentation systems, and Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to the Quality and Administrative team by setting priorities, assigning work, monitoring progress, coaching and supporting the effective delivery of the quality assurance and administrative services.
  • Maintain and oversee the laboratory Quality Management System.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits, proficiency testing programs and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure quality documentation, standard operating procedures, records, and reporting requirements are current, accurate, and effectively maintained.
  • Collaborate with laboratory leadership, employees, technical staff, and clients to address quality concerns, resolve operational quality issues, and promote consistent application of quality requirements across laboratory activities.
  • Lead root cause investigations and oversee the management of non-conformance reports (NCRs), corrective action logs, and risk registers.
  • Support the implementation of new analytical methods, laboratory processes, and instrumentation.
  • Provide quality-related guidance and support to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist with business development activities, client retention initiatives, and promotion of laboratory services.
  • Support operational planning, resource coordination, performance monitoring, and quality initiatives.

Overview

The Saskatchewan Research Council’s (SRC) Research and Technology Division – Lab Services has an opening for a Quality Supervisor. This position will maintain and monitor the application of a comprehensive quality assurance program to ensure compliance with accreditation, regulatory, and client requirements. This role provides leadership to the Quality and Administration team, supports continuous improvement initiatives, and works closely with laboratory staff and clients to promote quality and operational excellence.

The chosen candidate will be required to provide an original Criminal Record Check that is satisfactory to SRC prior to the commencement of any employment duties. The Criminal Record Check must have been executed within the preceding 30 days of receipt.
