Job summary

Saskatchewan Research Council (SRC) in Saskatoon is seeking an External Relations Advisor to lead marketing and communications across SRC. You will translate complex science into clear messages, manage campaigns, and engage stakeholders to raise SRC's profile in key sectors.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience planning and executing integrated marketing campaigns across channels, preferably for a B2B audience.
  • Certification or training in areas such as social media, digital marketing, website strategy, Google Analytics or B2B marketing is an asset.
  • Experience developing communication plans, marketing materials, digital content and multi-channel campaigns.
  • Experience using digital marketing tools, such as Hootsuite, Canva and MailChimp, is an asset.
  • Experience or interest working in science, technology, innovation or government environments is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead SRC’s social media, email marketing and audience engagement programs, developing content and campaigns that build brand awareness and support organizational priorities
  • Develop and execute integrated marketing campaigns that include digital and traditional channels, using analytics and performance metrics to optimize results
  • Support and enhance SRC’s website through content development, optimization, accessibility and analytics-driven improvements
  • Create compelling written and visual content for internal and external marketing and communications that showcases SRC’s brand and voice, often distilling scientific and technical concepts into clear, accessible messaging
  • Collaborate with other team members to create marketing materials, digital content and branded assets that support campaigns, events and stakeholder engagement activities while ensuring consistency with brand and accessibility standards
  • Monitor emerging marketing trends, technologies and best practices and provide recommendations for implementation
  • Assist with other communications activities, as required by the team, including events, media, government relations, news releases, presentations, internal communications and speaking notes

Overview

The External Relations Advisor provides professional marketing, communications and stakeholder engagement support across the organization. This role partners with business units and leaders to understand marketing and communication needs, developing and delivering day-to-day marketing and communications activities that support organizational priorities, strengthen SRC's brand and generate awareness in key sectors and geographies that SRC serves.

The chosen candidate will also be required to provide an original Criminal Record Check that is satisfactory to SRC prior to the commencement of any employment duties. The Criminal Record Check must have been executed within the preceding 30 days of receipt.
