Job description

For nearly 80 years, Saskatchewan Research Council (SRC) has helped shape Canada’s innovation economy. As the country’s second largest research and technology organization, SRC is recognized nationally for advancing applied research, commercialization and industrial innovation across mining, energy, agriculture, environmental stewardship and advanced materials.

Today, SRC is leading some of Canada’s most important initiatives in critical minerals, rare earth processing, battery materials and nuclear development — positioning Saskatchewan as a global innovation hub and strengthening Canada’s industrial future.

To support this momentum, SRC is seeking an exceptional leader to join the organization as Senior Director, Growth, Technology and Market Development.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Senior Director, Growth, Technology and Market Development is a senior executive role accountable for shaping and executing SRC’s growth and commercialization strategy across multiple divisions. The position oversees the progression of applied research, prototypes, and emerging technologies into scalable, market-ready services and products, while driving revenue growth and strengthening SRC’s competitive position. Integrating market insight, technical capability, and commercial discipline, the Senior Director leads cross-functional collaboration, manages business performance, and advances strategic initiatives that align with both enterprise priorities and evolving industry demands. The role is central to ensuring SRC’s innovation pipeline translates into measurable economic and client impact.

This is a rare opportunity to lead projects of strategic national importance — translating advanced technologies into commercial reality and helping build Canada’s future critical minerals infrastructure.

The ideal candidate is a commercially sophisticated and strategically minded leader with a proven track record of driving growth and technology commercialization within complex, innovation-driven environments. They bring deep experience bridging research and market application, with the ability to scale services, manage P&L performance, and lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver results. Equally important is a strong capacity to build trusted relationships across industry, government, academia, and Indigenous communities, coupled with the judgment to navigate regulatory and public-sector dynamics. The successful candidate will demonstrate a balanced leadership style—combining operational rigor, technical credibility, and an entrepreneurial mindset—alongside the ability to translate complex capabilities into compelling market opportunities.

Based in Saskatoon, this role offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully at the intersection of innovation, commercialization and nation-building infrastructure — while enjoying the exceptional quality of life, collaborative business environment and growing global profile of one of Canada’s most dynamic research and resource centres.

Join SRC and help shape the future of Canadian innovation and critical minerals leadership.
