Our client employer in Waterloo Region is looking for a Quality Manager with experience in a food production industry as well as managerial experience to join their team in a full-time permanent role!
As the Quality Manager you will be responsible for ensuring that products meet company standards for quality and safety.
You will also be the recipient of a solid compensation package including salary between 70-90K depending on experience, competitive employer paid benefits package and paid time off!
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor Degree in Food Science or other Science related degree (e.g., chemistry, microbiology)
- Ten (10) years of experience in the food industry
- Minimum of three (3) years of managerial/supervisor experience.
- Must have experience and training in implementing and managing food safety systems in a manufacturing environment
- Must have HACCP qualification (ideally advanced level).
- Must have internal auditing training.
- Must have experience leading 3rd party GFSI audits.
- Must have a working knowledge of Canadian food safety regulations including SFCA.
- Must be competent in using standard computer software packages including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Experience in delivering training and speaking for presentations.

Job Responsibilities:
- Ensure the products manufactured meet the company’s finished product quality and food safety expectations, as per customer and regulatory requirements.
- Manage and lead the day-to-day activities of the QC Supervisors, and document control team.
- Developing and maintaining quality management systems.
- Responsible for daily management and support for the team to achieve operational success.
- Monitor time and attendance and ensure compliance with Company Procedures.
- Conducting regular inspections and audits, and collaborate with other departments to investigate non-conformances arising from audits.
- Participate in customer visits or third-party audits.
- Interact with regulatory personnel, food safety auditors, and customers to maintain positive relationships, ensure rapid corrective actions and improve on quality.
- Perform internal audits according to the internal audit calendar. Review non-conformances from internal and external audits to identify areas of improvement.
- Keep up-to date with all third-party requirements including BRC, Organic, Kosher, and RSPO.
- Investigate Quality Department -related non-conformances and provide corrective and preventative actions.
- Manage Environmental monitoring and Allergen validation program and take appropriate corrective actions. Escalate non-conformances to the Quality Director.
- Provide immediate and direct support to quality related issues as they occur on the plant floor, including completing full investigations on product quality
- Collaborate with other departments to investigate non-conformances arising from audits.
- Co-lead site manager meetings to increase collaboration, improve communication, align company goals, and improve the plant efficiencies and work culture.
- Manage customer complaints investigations, determine root causes, and help implement corrective actions.
- Conduct risk assessments of potential new suppliers and new raw materials in conjunction with the Purchasing Department.
- Coach, train and lead the QC and document control team to ensure Food Quality and Safety is maintained throughout the process.
- Oversee process checks throughout the production, packaging, sanitation and warehouse functions including GMP, metal detection, label coding verification, general hygiene and safety.
