Job summary

Iconic Power Systems Inc. in Calgary, Alberta, is seeking a Quality Coordinator to ensure the Quality Management System (QMS) is implemented and followed. You will plan, implement, monitor and review proactive quality measures to minimize losses while maintaining high standards.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of construction and QA/QC experience, with exposure to high‑voltage and substation work. On-site and office duties require strong reading of drawings, use of hand tools, and MS Office

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of construction experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience in quality assurance and quality control.
  • Experience in High‑Voltage Construction.
  • 3+ years of Substation quality assurance.
  • 1+ year of providing quality oversight in a construction environment.
  • Previous supervisory experience at crew lead/foreperson/supervisor level is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Understand client quality requirements and implement on the project as appropriate.
  • Coordinate with client quality coordinators to deliver client-related reports.
  • Control, initiate and conduct inspections and tests per the ITP.
  • Liaise with subcontractor installations and QC processes.
  • Develop project-specific ITPs as required.
  • Review and approve subcontractor ITPs.
  • Assist site supervisor with receiving and inspection of material.
  • Assist with RFIs related to quality specs and standards.
  • Report and track deficiencies and initiate NCRs.
  • Support turnover deliverables and quality binders.

Summary

Reporting to the Quality Supervisor of Iconic Power Systems, the Quality Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that all aspects of the Quality Management System (QMS) are implemented and adhered to. They help plan, implement, monitor and review the proactive and preventative measures that the company is required or chooses to follow, and work to minimize operational losses while maintaining a high standard of quality.

Qualifications
  • PSE designation considered an asset.
  • PLT designation considered an asset.
  • Journeyman Electrician with Red Seal Endorsement designation considered an asset.
  • Formal construction management training from a recognized technical institute considered an asset.
  • ISO 9001 or 27001 training considered an asset.
  • ASET qualifications considered an asset.
  • 5+ years of construction experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience in quality assurance and quality control.
  • Experience in High‑Voltage Construction.
  • 3+ years of Substation quality assurance.
  • 1+ year of providing quality oversight and control in a construction‑related environment.
  • Previous supervisory experience at the crew‑lead, foreperson, or supervisor level considered an asset.
Skills
  • Ability to read and interpret engineered drawings for civil, electrical, and structural applications.
  • Ability to use hand tools and testing equipment.
  • Knowledge of substation construction and associated quality control hold points.
  • Ability to influence field staff regarding quality assurance procedures.
  • Ability to interpret and understand client technical specifications and turnover requirements.
  • Ability to build relationships with clients.
  • Proficient in the use of Word, Excel and Microsoft Office 365 Suite of products.
  • Ability to communicate with other personnel and mentor in the execution of quality‑related requirements, standards and testing.
Duties
  • Understand client specific quality requirements and implement them on the project as appropriate.
  • Work with client quality coordinators/representatives to identify, agree and deliver all client‑related reports.
  • Control, initiate and conduct any inspections and tests required by the ITP.
  • Liaise with and monitor subcontractor installations and quality control processes.
  • Develop project‑specific ITPs as required.
  • Review and approve subcontractor ITPs.
  • When on‑site support the site supervisor with the receiving and inspection of material.
  • When onsite support the site supervisor with the receipt of client document transmittals.
  • When on‑site support the site supervisor in the development of RFIs, particularly those associated with quality specifications and standards.
  • Report and track all deficiencies.
  • Initiate NCRs as required by the QMS.
  • When on‑site support the site supervisor with the development and submittal of all contractual project deliverables associated with quality binders and turnover.
  • Attend site meetings when required to represent the company on quality matters.
  • Maintain quality‑related folders on the Iconic drives.
  • Provide additional support for the supervisor concerning items related to the quality control program and the Iconic QMS requirements.
  • Perform project quality audits during the life of a project.
