Qualifications

  • Journeyperson Electrician or instrumentation trade certification preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of industrial electrical and instrumentation construction experience.
  • Strong knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), CSA standards, client specs, and testing procedures.
  • Ability to read single line diagrams, loop drawings, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, control schematics, and vendor drawings.
  • Experience with turnover documentation and quality management systems.

  • Inspect instrument installations, tubing, supports, impulse lines, junction boxes, marshaling cabinets, and field devices.
  • Verify termination quality, cable identification, and wiring accuracy.
  • Witness and document electrical testing including insulation resistance, continuity, grounding, loop checks, and functional testing.
  • Coordinate inspections with client representatives and third-party inspectors.

Job Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation Quality Control Technician to join our growing team supporting major industrial projects in Northern Alberta. This position plays a key role in ensuring all electrical and instrumentation installations meet client specifications, applicable codes, engineering requirements, and quality standards while maintaining our commitment to safety and execution excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Perform quality inspections of electrical and instrumentation installations.
  • Verify construction activities comply with IFC drawings, specifications, standards, and applicable codes.
  • Complete inspection and test records throughout construction.
  • Review construction work packages, drawings, vendor documentation, and quality requirements.
  • Conduct cable installation, cable tray, conduit, grounding, and equipment installation inspections.
  • Inspect instrument installations, tubing, supports, impulse lines, junction boxes, marshaling cabinets, and field devices.
  • Verify termination quality, cable identification, and wiring accuracy.
  • Witness and document electrical testing including insulation resistance, continuity, grounding, loop checks, and functional testing.
  • Coordinate inspections with client representatives and third-party inspectors.
  • Track deficiencies and maintain punch lists through completion.
  • Verify corrective actions and closeout documentation.
  • Maintain quality records in accordance with project quality plans.
  • Support turnover packages and commissioning documentation.
  • Participate in quality meetings and provide progress updates.
  • Promote a strong safety culture while ensuring quality workmanship.
Requirements
  • Journeyperson Electrician, Instrumentation Technician, or equivalent industrial trade certification preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of industrial electrical and instrumentation construction experience.
  • Previous QC/QA experience on industrial construction projects is a strong asset.
  • Strong understanding of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), CSA Standards, client specifications, and electrical testing procedures.
  • Ability to read single line diagrams, loop drawings, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, control schematics, and vendor drawings.
  • Experience with turnover documentation and quality management systems.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test, including cannabis.
