Mariposa Dairy is a leading manufacturer of award-winning cheeses based in Lindsay, Ontario. Our aim is to provide the highest quality cheese products in North America through the efforts of our skilled and valued team for the benefit of our customers and community.

We are currently seeking a full-time Quality Assurance Technician reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager. Our organization is a growing and dynamic business and operates in our two facilities just off Hwy. 36 in Lindsay, Ontario.

The QA Technician will perform all duties in an efficient, effective and timely manner. This position is responsible for monitoring and evaluating our cheese products throughout production, to ensure that food safety has not been compromised, and our high standards are being met. This position is to provide superior work output keeping in mind the utmost importance of Food Safety and Handling. Flexibility of hours is essential for this job, depending on daily production targets, including some weekends.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform daily monitoring and verification tasks as outlined in the FSMS Program and issue corrective actions for deviations.
• Perform microbiological and analytical sampling for product and environment.
• Perform various HACCP and FSMS related verification activities.
• Provide support to employees and production management to maintain and improve their QA practices and procedures.
• Participates in root cause analysis of food safety and quality deviations.
• Able to work safely in an industrial environment.
• Able to influence others with respect to quality and food safety compliance.
• Other duties as assigned.

Who you are:

• Food Science degree or diploma, or equivalent.
• Previous experience in a technical role.
• Previous experience with maintaining and validating a GFSI Program.
• Computer applications such as MS Office.
• Strong interpersonal skills, as well as oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent organization and planning skills.
• Willingness to learn and teach others, be self-directed and motivated.
• Candidate must be business, results, and values oriented.
• Able to work both day shifts and afternoon/evening shifts, with some weekend work as required.
• Must have a good and positive attitude towards change and other employees.
• Able to work as a part of a functional team and be an exceptional fit with the Mariposa Dairy Team.
• Additional Assets:
  • Project management experience.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt, Lean or any other modern quality management experience.
