Job summary

AFL Telecommunications, LLC is seeking a QA Technician to support quality assurance for FTTP network build projects. The role focuses on site inspections, defect marking, and ensuring installations meet standards and client expectations.

You will coordinate with Field Service and Quality Managers, review drawings, and help develop engineering policies, procedures, and training while promoting safety and confidentiality across teams.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years’ relevant experience ideally in Telecommunication Field.
• Proficient in MS Office, specifically Excel, Word, Visio, and Power Point.
• Knowledge in GPON FTTP, FTTx, other Outside Plant Design is an asset.
• Read and understand telecommunication network drawings.
• Strong computer skills with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (Access a plus).

Responsibilities

• Communicate with Lead Hand/Splicing Lead upon site visits.
• Visit MxU sites (Internal and Build partner) any civil build and fill out QA checklist.
• Report back to Field Service Manager and Quality Manager on any findings.
• Pass or mark defect according to client standard and checklist provided.
• Check that any deviations from original design are marked properly on as-built.
• Send in completed checklist at end of inspection phase and list of open/closed deficiencies.
• Propose strategies to avoid duplication of work, minimize processing times, and reduce cost.
• Adherence to and promotion of the Canadian environmental, health & safety policies.
• Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
• Perform follow-up with responsible parties to complete remediations on a timely manner.
• Perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Field Service Manager the QA Technician is responsible to ensure compliance and uniformity during the build phases of Fiber-To-The-Premise (FTTP) build.

The incumbent is also responsible for providing accurate and effective quality assurance, customer reporting, and operational support by assisting with the continuous development of engineering policies, procedures, and training.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND RESULTING OUTCOMES

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge and Experience

• 1-3 years’ relevant experience ideally in Telecommunication Field
• Proficient in MS Office, specifically Excel, Word, Visio, and Power Point
• Knowledge in the following considered an asset: GPON FTTP, FTTx, other Outside Plant Design
• Read and understand telecommunication network drawings
• Strong computer skills with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (Special consideration will be given to candidates with intermediate skills with Microsoft Access)

WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical, Sensory and Mental Requirements

• A hybrid split between office and field work with minimum 2 days in the office
• Ability to work in a stressful, time sensitive, ever-changing, and high tempo environment
• Travel may be required

• Monday to Friday shift 8 hour days with Stat holidays off
