Job summary

AFL Telecommunications, LLC is seeking a Supervisor to lead telecom field teams in Calgary and surrounding locations. You will operate heavy AFL equipment, coordinate with the construction team, and ensure safety and quality on each site.

The role involves training crew members, handling materials and equipment, and performing site inspections under OHS guidelines. Travel and weekend shifts are part of the job.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of supervisory experience in telecom industry.
• Strong mechanical and analytical ability.
• Ability to do fine, precise work with their hands.
• Must be able to work at a height of 30 feet.
• Ability to manage a physically demanding workload.
• Proficient in operating hand and power tools, and test equipment.
• Normal color vision to work with color-coded wiring.
• Previous telecommunication/OSP experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Operate AFL owned equipment, such as Vibratory plow and H-Vac.
• Train other team members on how to operate excavation.
• NSC driver – hauling/towing trailer, loading/unloading equipment to job sites.
• Install pathways and drops across all sites.
• Ensure safety and compliance with Locates and excavation standards.
• Coordinate project setup with Construction manager for warehouse, materials, and equipment.
• Submit daily production reports and provide field updates.

Responsibilities

• Operating AFL owned equipment, such as Vibratory plow, H-Vac,

• Use ladders or bucket trucks to access aerial locations
• Accessing Fiber Optic Terminals to connect cables
• Adhering to existing practices and standards to ensure consistent quality
• Operate equipment and vehicle in a safe manner
• Ensure vehicle and test equipment are maintained in excellent working condition
• Trouble shoot technical issues swiftly and accurately
• Work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
• Work in enclosed spaces and aloft
• Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned

• Adhere to and promote the environmental, health & safety policies of AFL
