Job summary

Mind Games is seeking a Purchasing Specialist for our Markham head office to manage end-to-end purchasing for toys, games, and collectibles, build strong supplier relationships, and negotiate terms to boost profitability.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years in retail purchasing, hands-on NetSuite experience, and strong Excel skills. You’ll analyze inventory and sales trends, collaborate with merchandising, and support operations across accounting and warehouse teams.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of purchasing or buying experience, preferably in retail (toys, collectibles, or pop culture-related categories are a plus).
• Hands-on experience with NetSuite is required.
• Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and inventory management systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end purchasing process for toys, games, collectibles, and specialty merchandise.
• Build and nurture strong relationships with vendors, distributors, and manufacturers.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules to optimize profitability.
• Monitor inventory levels and sales trends to effectively plan restocks and new product acquisitions.
• Collaborate closely with merchandising and retail teams to ensure the right products reach the right stores at the right time.
• Review purchase orders for accuracy and guarantee timely processing.
• Analyze sales performance and product lifecycle to make informed purchasing decisions.
• Track shipments and proactively resolve any issues related to delivery or product discrepancies.
• Research new trends, products, and suppliers to continuously expand our assortment.
• Coordinate with accounting and warehouse teams on invoicing and receiving matters.
