Job summary

Mind Games in Markham, ON is seeking a detail-oriented Purchasing Specialist to join our head office. You will manage the end-to-end purchasing process for toys, games, collectibles, and specialty merchandise while building strong supplier relationships.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years buying experience, hands-on NetSuite, Excel proficiency, and a proven ability to negotiate terms, monitor inventory, and collaborate with merchandising and retail teams to ensure timely restocks.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of purchasing or buying experience in retail.
• Hands-on experience with NetSuite.
• Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and inventory management systems.
• Keen analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end purchasing process for toys, games, collectibles, and specialty merchandise.
• Build and nurture strong relationships with vendors, distributors, and manufacturers.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules to optimize profitability.
• Monitor inventory levels and sales trends to effectively plan restocks and new product acquisitions.
• Collaborate closely with merchandising and retail teams to ensure the right products reach the right stores at the right time.
• Review purchase orders for accuracy and guarantee timely processing.
• Analyze sales performance and product lifecycle to make informed purchasing decisions.
• Track shipments and proactively resolve any issues related to delivery or product discrepancies.
• Research new trends, products, and suppliers to continuously expand our assortment.
• Coordinate with accounting and warehouse teams on invoicing and receiving matters.
