Responsibilities

  • Stay current on changes affecting supply and demand and advise others of impact.

  • Develop ideas to improve operational efficiency and value.
  • Assess and evaluate suppliers and undertake performance reviews for contract compliance.

Our VICTORIA head office is currently seeking a Full time Purchasing Agent to join our team! In this position the Purchasing Agent is responsible for placing and expediting POs, managing inventory at an acceptable level, maintaining information in the ERP system. This position works closely with all departments including pricing, marketing, and finance.

Salary range is $55,000.00 - $75,000.00 annually. Wages scaled based on experience and education. This role is 100% in office with no remote work opportunities.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Purchase goods, materials, components, or services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets.
  • Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery, or invoice issues
  • Ensure a continuous supply of required goods and materials.
  • Maintain and improve relationships with suppliers and colleagues. Resolving issues, serve as a resource in troubleshooting complex matters, and ensure that calls with questions are responded to promptly.
  • Maintain excellent communication, cooperation, and teamwork among all stakeholders within the company.
  • Stay current and up to date on any changes that may affect the supply and demand of needed products and materials and advise others of any impact.
  • Monitor market trends, and competitor strategies, research and evaluate existing and new suppliers, explore alternate sources for goods and materials.
  • Develop ideas and strategies to improve operational efficiency, add value, aid business performance, and work towards continuous improvement.
  • Assess and evaluate suppliers and undertake performance reviews to ensure contract compliance and manage performance improvement activities.
  • Attend meetings and update others on issues or concerns, mainly when there is a risk that could prevent the organization from meeting customer demands or where there are over-capacity concerns.
  • Negotiate contracts, improve prices and terms of business with suppliers, and review opportunities to make business savings utilizing negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods.
  • Work collaboratively and negotiate and engage with stakeholders and suppliers regarding new projects, supplies, and initiatives and advise of the impact of change on purchasing and production activities.
Job Requirements:
