Job summary

Bartle & Gibson Co. Ltd. is seeking an entry-level Buyer to join our purchasing team in Western Canada. You will assist with placing orders, liaise with suppliers, and support inventory coordination in a fast-paced, team-driven environment.

Ideal candidates are organized, eager to learn, and ready to grow within procurement and supply chain. Prior buying experience is not required, but familiarity with Microsoft Office is an asset and a proactive attitude is essential.

Qualifications

  • Minimum a Grade 12 diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A degree/diploma in Supply Chain Management is preferred.
  • Previous experience in a buying or procurement role is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Build positive working relationships with suppliers and follow up on order details and delivery schedules.
  • Place purchase orders and maintain accurate records; identify and evaluate suppliers.
  • Work with warehouse and inventory teams to track stock levels and ensure timely receipt of goods.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams to resolve delays and quality concerns; gather freight quotes.

Job description

We’re looking for a motivated and detail-oriented entry-level Buyer to join our purchasing team. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their career or looking to grow within the procurement and supply chain field. You’ll be responsible for placing orders, working with vendors, and supporting inventory coordination—all in a fast-paced, team-focused environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Build positive working relationships with suppliers
  • Follow up on order details and delivery schedules
Product Sourcing & Purchasing
  • Assist in identifying and evaluating suppliers
  • Place purchase orders and maintain accurate records
Inventory & Logistics Support
  • Work with warehouse and inventory teams to track stock levels
  • Ensure timely receipt of goods and resolve shipment delays
Problem Solving
  • Handle issues such as delayed shipments or product quality concerns
  • Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams to find solutions
  • Stay informed on industry trends and supplier options
  • Make purchasing suggestions based on product research
  • Collect and compare freight quotes
  • Recommend the most efficient and cost-effective shipping options
  • Support sales, operations, and other departments with procurement needs
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
  • Minimum of a Grade 12 diploma or equivalent required
  • A degree/diploma in Supply Chain Management or a related field is preferred
  • Previous experience in a buying or procurement role preferred but not required
  • Experience within a Microsoft environment, (Excel, Word, outlook etc.) is an asset
