Through our portfolio of subsidiary companies and brands, including ZenaDrone and Drone as a Service, we are dedicated to streamlining legacy processes and tasks with drones and smart data across multiple industries.

Role Overview

As PR and Communications Manager, you will lead the execution of public relations, media relations, corporate communications, thought leadership, and executive visibility strategies primarily to our investor audiences across North American and global markets. This leadership role is responsible for building awareness of our opportunity and strategy among our investor audiences, developing high-impact communications campaigns, and ensuring timely responses to positive company news. A core requirement of this role is strong writing and editing skill for investor-facing press releases, including quarterly and annual results, material announcements, and financing and M&A disclosures, along with a working understanding of investor relations practices and public company disclosure requirements. Working closely with Executive Leadership, Corporate Communications, Marketing, Investor Relations, and Corporate Development teams, you will help craft the company narrative for our ZenaTech parent company brand, and drive earned media outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
Public Relations & Media Leadership
  • Develop and execute comprehensive public relations and corporate communications strategies to increase brand visibility across technology, business, and financial media.
  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists, editors, analysts, influencers, industry associations, and key stakeholders throughout Canada and the United States.
  • Lead media outreach, press releases, media advisories, executive interviews, briefing materials, speaking opportunities, and award submissions, with particular attention to accuracy, clarity, and compliance for investor-facing announcements.
  • Coordinate, provide briefings and liaison with Corporate spokesperson interviews
  • Monitor media activity and emerging financial industry trends and proactively identify earned media opportunities.
Investor & Financial Communications
  • Draft, edit, and finalize investor-facing press releases, including quarterly and annual results, material announcements, financings, and acquisitions, in close coordination with Investor Relations, Finance, and Legal to ensure accuracy and consistency with SEC/SEDAR+ filings.
  • Partner with Investor Relations and Finance to translate financial results and business updates into clear, compelling, and compliant press release narratives for investor and analyst audiences.
  • Maintain working knowledge of Regulation FD, disclosure obligations, and blackout periods to help ensure all public communications meet applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Support coordination of earnings calls, investor conferences, and shareholder communications alongside the Investor Relations team.
Corporate Communications, Issues & Crisis Management
  • Develop and maintain corporate messaging frameworks, media kits, FAQs, executive briefing documents, and crisis communication playbooks.
  • Lead crisis communications planning and rapid-response communication efforts when required.
  • Provide strategic counsel to executives regarding reputational risk, media engagement, and stakeholder communications.
  • Prepare executive speeches, presentations, bylined articles, talking points, investor-facing messaging, and internal communication materials.
Strategic Content & Brand Storytelling
  • Lead development of compelling stories that support company growth, innovation, thought leadership, and market differentiation.
  • Collaborate with marketing, social media, digital, and product teams to ensure message consistency across channels.
  • Oversee creation of press releases, blog content, opinion pieces, customer success stories, and executive communications.
Leadership, Analytics & Performance
  • Establish PR KPIs and measure earned media performance, sentiment analysis, share of voice, and campaign effectiveness.
  • Manage agency relationships, vendors, and communications budgets where applicable.
  • Provide regular reporting and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
Work Environment & Availability Expectations
  • This position requires flexibility and responsiveness outside of traditional business hours when significant news events, press releases, urgent media inquiries, corporate announcements, or crisis communications situations arise.
  • The nature of public relations and reputation management means turnaround times can be tight and driven by external events, media deadlines, and breaking news cycles.
  • Candidates should understand that this role may not consistently support a traditional work-life balance during periods of quarterly results or major announcements.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Business, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of progressive public relations, media relations, corporate communications, or investor relations experience, with direct experience at a publicly traded company, or an agency supporting publicly traded clients, strongly preferred.
  • 3+ years of leadership, management, or senior-level communications experience.

  • Strong knowledge of media relations, issues management, crisis communications, reputation management, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Working understanding of investor relations fundamentals, including public company disclosure practices, Regulation FD, and SEC/SEDAR+ filing requirements.
  • Experience using media monitoring, media database, and communications analytics platforms.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure with tight deadlines and changing priorities.
  • Experience collaborating with executive leadership teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
