Job summary

The Inuvik Housing Authority seeks a Finance Officer to manage the O&M budget for public housing in Inuvik, handle payroll, receivables, payables, and tax remittances. The role includes producing monthly rent reconciliations and quarterly variance reports for the NWT Housing Corporation.

Reporting to the Executive Manager, you will supervise the Administration Clerk and ensure accurate financial records, timely reporting, and compliance with all regulations.

Qualifications

• Second level towards a professional accounting designation or a Diploma in Accounting or Business Administration
• 2 years of related experience in financial roles
• Knowledge of GAAP, payroll and GST remittance and audit procedures

Responsibilities

• Prepare financial reports in consultation with the Executive Manager to ensure funds are available and financial position is clear
• Maintain the general ledger and reconcile bank statements for accuracy
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable; oversee payroll and benefits operations
• Prepare payroll reports and issue income tax documents (T4s) and GST remittance
• Assist with year-end audit procedures and related documentation
• Provide training and supervision to Admin Clerk/Receptionist and support day-to-day office operations
