Job summary

Job description

Reporting to the Corporate Comptroller, the Manager, Financial Reporting and Advisory Services plays a critical role in ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and reliability of the NHC’s financial statements and related reports. In this senior role you will lead the preparation and coordination of the annual financial audit conducted by the Auditor General of Canada’s office (OAG) and oversee implementation of audit recommendations. You will also manage the financial reporting of 25 Local Housing Organizations across Nunavut, applying professional judgment to ensure all reporting is accurate, compliant, and aligned with sound financial management practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervision of direct report(s) and providing training and coaching to departmental staff;
  • Managing the preparation of interim, special and specific financial reports for third‑party funding;
  • Providing advisory services and managing special projects.

The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are normally obtained through completion of a recognized Canadian accounting designation (CPA, CGA, CMA, or CA). An undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Commerce or Economics with a minimum of three (3) years related experience in leading and/or participating in the year‑end financial reporting process, financial management information systems, and liaising with external and internal auditors, specifically from the OAG, including one year of progressive managerial experience.

This is a Position of Trust and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check is required.

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross‑cultural environment are also considered assets.
