Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree in Communications, PR, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.
• Five or more years of progressive communications experience with leadership or management responsibilities.
• Exceptional writing, editing, media relations, and public speaking skills.
• Experience developing communications plans, campaigns and stakeholder engagement.
• Strong project management and organizational abilities.
• Ability to handle sensitive issues with professionalism and discretion.
• Experience with social media, CMS, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Collaborative approach and ability to build diverse stakeholder relationships.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead corporate communications, marketing, and engagement strategies.
• Provide strategic communications advice to senior leadership and town departments.
• Manage media relations.
• Create content across digital, print, social media, and web platforms.
• Lead communications planning for major projects and community engagement.
• Monitor emerging issues and provide proactive issues management.
• Support emergency and crisis communications, including acting as a Public Information Officer during emergencies.
• Champion organizational priorities and raise awareness of programs and projects.

• Manage media relations


• Create compelling content across digital, print, social media, and web platforms


• Lead communications planning for major projects, initiatives, and community engagement activities


• Monitor emerging issues and provide proactive issues management support


• Support emergency and crisis communications efforts, including serving as a Public Information Officer during emergencies


• Championing organizational priorities and creating awareness on various programs, initiatives and projects

We're looking for a communications professional who combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution.

• A post-secondary degree or diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field


• Five (5) or more years of progressive communications experience, including leadership or management responsibilities


• Exceptional writing, editing, media relations, and public speaking skills


• Experience developing communications plans, campaigns, and stakeholder engagement initiatives


• Strong project management and organizational abilities


• The confidence to navigate sensitive issues with professionalism, discretion, and political awareness


• Experience using social media platforms, content management systems, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Suite


• A collaborative approach and the ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders

Assets

• Municipal or public-sector experience


• Knowledge of the Municipal Government Act (MGA)


• Public engagement experience


• ICS 300 certification
