Job summary

The Manitoba Government’s Department of Transportation and Infrastructure is seeking a Building Projects Technologist to support planning, coordination, and delivery of building construction and renovation projects across Manitoba. You will provide technical expertise and coordinate with stakeholders to ensure safety, compliance, and timely delivery.

Reporting to the Building Projects Manager, the successful candidate will help ensure projects meet codes and standards while managing multiple

Qualifications

• Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or related field; equivalent education/experience may be considered.
• Experience preparing construction tender documents, specifications, plans, and cost estimates.
• Experience creating and reviewing design drawings using CAD software such as AutoCAD.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills to manage multiple projects.
• Knowledge of building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
• Strong interpersonal skills for client, colleague, and external partner interactions.
• Ability to work independently with sound judgment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).

Responsibilities

• Support planning, design, and delivery of building construction and renovation projects.
• Prepare and review technical documents including plans, specifications, tender documents, and cost estimates.
• Conduct site inspections and monitor construction activities for compliance with project requirements, codes, and standards.
• Provide technical advice and recommendations on project-related matters.
• Collaborate with contractors, consultants, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to support successful project delivery.
