Job summary

In-Home Assisted Living Inc. (IHAL) is seeking a dedicated Personal Support Worker (PSW) and Caregiver to support a client in their home in Toronto. The role focuses on client-centred care, daily living activities, and ensuring safety and comfort in the home.

You will assist with ADLs, mobility, light housekeeping, meal prep, medication reminders, care reporting to the Case Manager, and provide companionship. Weekend shifts are required; CPR/First Aid and PSW certificates are required.

Qualifications

• PSW Certificate required.
• Minimum 1 year of caregiving or PSW experience.
• CPR/First Aid Certification required.
• GPA or Non-Violent Crisis Prevention training preferred.
• Ability to use a mobile phone for documentation and time tracking.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
• Support mobility, walking, and safe transfers (bed, chair, wheelchair).
• Perform light housekeeping to maintain a clean and safe environment.
• Prepare and serve meals based on client preferences and dietary needs.
• Provide medication reminders and help monitor daily routines.
• Complete daily care reports and communicate observations to the Case Manager or healthcare team.
• Engage clients in meaningful conversation and provide reassurance.

What You Should Know

Location: Yong & St. Clair, Toronto, ON (client homes)

Shift: Saturdays & Sundays 12 noon - 4pm

What You’ll Do

Personal Support & Daily Care

• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting

What We’re Looking For

• PSW Certificate required
• Minimum 1 year of caregiving or PSW experience
• Training in Gentle Persuasive Approaches (GPA) or Non-Violent Crisis Prevention preferred
• CPR/First Aid Certification required
• Ability to use a mobile phone for documentation and time tracking
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Reliable, compassionate, and able to respond calmly to unexpected situations
