Job summary

MSP Corp in Winnipeg is seeking a Project Technician – L3 Networking Specialist to lead complex networking projects. You will design LAN/WAN, VPN, SD-WAN and firewall solutions, while guiding junior staff and coordinating with clients.

The role requires Fortinet FortiGate expertise, Cisco Meraki knowledge, and 5–7 years in MSP environments. This is a hybrid/remote position with on-call rotations and strong emphasis on security and compliance.

Qualifications

  • College degree in IT or networking is required.
  • 5–7 years in network engineering or MSP project delivery.
  • Experience handling multiple client projects concurrently.
  • Strong Fortinet FortiGate and Cisco Meraki knowledge.
  • VLANs, QoS, firewall, VPN and SD-WAN experience essential.
  • Exposure to cloud networking (Azure/AWS/M365) is a plus.
  • Scripting with PowerShell or Python is an asset.
  • Fortinet NSE 4+, CCNP or Security+ preferred.

  • Mentor junior technicians and provide guidance.
  • Participate in client meetings and post-project support.

About the Role

As a Project Technician – L3 Networking Specialist, you will be responsible toplays a key role in the planning, design, and implementation of advanced networking projects for our clients. This position focuses on providing high-level expertise in network infrastructure, security, and connectivity solutions across multiple environments within the MSP ecosystem.

Location: Winnipeg
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week (8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.)
Work Mode: Hybrid or remote
On-Call: Rotational basis every 5–8 weeks
Travel: Dependent on project requirements
Certification: Fortinet certification required, or willingness to obtain within 6–9 months of the start date

What You Will Do
  • Lead the implementation and deployment of complex networking projects, including upgrades, migrations, and new site setups.
  • Design and configure enterprise-level LAN/WAN, VPN, SD-WAN, and firewall solutions (e.g., FortiGate, Cisco-Meraki, Palo Alto). Preferred
  • Support escalation tickets and on call
  • Collaborate with project managers, solution architects, pre-sales and clients to define technical requirements and project scope.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of network issues escalated from Tier 2 teams.
  • Configure and optimize network monitoring and performance tools (e.g., FortiAnalyzer).
  • Ensure security best practices and compliance with client and MSP standards (e.g., VLAN segmentation, MFA, encryption).
  • Document all configurations, procedures, and project deliverables clearly in the internal knowledge base.
  • Mentor junior technicians and provide technical guidance to operations teams.
  • Participate in client meetings and provide post-project support as required.
What We Are Looking For
  • College diploma or university degree in Information Technology, Computer Networking
  • Minimum 5–7 years of experience in network engineering or project implementation within an MSP environment.
  • Proven experience managing multiple client projects simultaneously.
  • Strong knowledge of Fortinet (FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer asset) and Cisco/Meraki product lines.
  • Expertise in routing and switching (VLANs, QoS).
  • Hands-on experience with full firewall configuration, VPNs, and SD-WAN.
  • Familiarity with cloud networking (Azure, AWS, M365 connectivity) is a strong asset.
  • Scripting or automation knowledge (PowerShell, Python) is an asset.
  • Fortinet NSE 4+ ,Cisco CCNP ,CompTIA Network+ or Security+ (Preferred)
  • Excellente communication and documentation abilities.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, multi-client environment.
