Job summary

Plan Group, Inc. is seeking a Project Manager, Mechanical Construction to lead electrical construction projects from planning through execution.

You will manage targets, budgets, safety leadership, and coordination across engineering disciplines to ensure timely delivery on landmark projects. The role requires strong PM experience in mechanical construction, proficiency with scheduling tools, and a track record of collaborating with clients and GCs.

Qualifications

• Mechanical Engineering education and PM experience in construction.
• Experience managing electrical commercial and institutional projects.
• Estimation software knowledge is an asset.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; scheduling software preferred.
• PMP or equivalent designation is an asset.
• Experience reading architectural, electrical and mechanical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Establish targets and milestones to deliver electrical projects on time and within budget.
• Promote and lead Health and Safety initiatives.
• Monitor progress, forecasts, cost control and schedule per TIME program.
• Proactively identify problems and delays and bring them to management.
• Ensure accurate project forecasting.
• Monitor critical path and advise team.
• Review short-interval planning.
• Lead pre-job planning: turnover estimates, kickoff, subcontractor selection, and risk strategies.
• Coordinate with site supervision to progress and remove roadblocks.
• Ensure document control, change orders, deliveries, meetings and progress docs.
• Provide feedback, coaching and training to team.
• Build relationships with clients, GCs and engineers.

As an Project Manager, Mechanical Construction, you will be asked to do the following:

• Establish and achieve project targets and milestones to deliver electrical projects on-timeand within budget.
• Provide active promotion and leadership in Health and Safety
• Monitor and provide status updates of work in progress, forecasts, cost control andproject schedule in line with Plan Group’s T.I.M.E. efficiency program.
• Proactively identify and bring to management’s attention potential problems and/orschedule delays.
• Follow up to ensure accurate project forecasting.
• Monitor and analyze critical path activities and advise project team accordingly.
• Review and manage short interval planning.
• Lead pre-job planning including estimate turnover, kick off meetings, subcontractorselection, material handling strategies and opportunities for risk management andimproved productivity.
• Follow up with site supervision on labour/manpower progress; identify and reduceroadblocks to success.
• Manage project team to ensure requirements for document control, change order process,coordination of equipment and material deliveries, site meetings and progressdocumentation are adhered to.
• Identify opportunities to provide project team members with regular feedback, coachingand training.
• Build strong relationships with clients, GCs and Engineers to positively contribute to thesuccess of the project.

QUALIFICATIONS

• You have Mechanical Engineering post-secondary education or related and a minimum offive years construction project management experience; trade experience a definite asset.
• You have experience managing electrical commercial and institutional projects.
• Knowledge of Estimating software such as Accubid Change Order, Enterprise – EnterpriseChange Order Version and/or Estimating experience is considered an asset
• Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office. Experience utilizing schedulingsoftware preferred (i.e. Microsoft Project and/or Primavera)
• You hold or are working towards a Project Management Professional (PMP) designationor equivalent considered an asset
• Experience analyzing and understanding Architectural, Electrical and Mechanicalconstruction drawings and experience working on commercial and institutional projects.
