Job description

Our client, is seeking a seasoned, delivery-focused Project Manager to lead custom application development initiatives and manage cross-functional technology roadmaps.

In this strategic consulting role, you will take full ownership of the end-to-end project management lifecycle—driving projects from initial scope confirmation through to planning, execution, and closure. Working in a hybrid environment, you will bridge the gap between business stakeholders, custom application development teams, and external partners. You will manage project budgets, resource allocations, Statements of Work (SOWs), and delivery schedules using both Waterfall and Hybrid-Agile frameworks. Utilizing Azure DevOps Boards in a dual Scrum Master and Product Manager capacity, you will establish risk registers, govern change controls, and ensure high-quality software deliverables that comply with enterprise standards and regulatory requirements.

Duration: 5-Month Contract (August 3, 2026 to January 29, 2027)

Work Arrangement: Hybrid (Minimum 4 days per week on-site in Calgary, AB)

Location Eligibility: Must be local to Calgary, Alberta for regular on-site attendance.

Advantages
  • High-Impact Application Scope: Drive low-to-medium complexity enhancement roadmaps for custom-built enterprise software applications.
  • Dual Execution Leadership: Apply your expertise as both a Scrum Master and Product Manager using modern tools like Azure DevOps Boards.
  • Strategic Stakeholder Engagement: Build trust and influence outcomes across all levels of the enterprise without needing direct formal authority.
  • Structured Hybrid Model: Balance focused collaborative days at the Calgary corporate office with work-from-home flexibility.
Responsibilities
  • Planning & Execution
  • Scope & Charter Initiation: Confirm project scope with business stakeholders, ensure all foundational requirements are met, and author formal Project Charters and SOWs.
  • Integrated Project Planning: Establish project schedules, resource allocations, communication strategies, risk management plans, and budget baselines across parallel application workstreams.
  • Agile & Waterfall Governance: Direct and manage day-to-day work activities using Waterfall and Hybrid-Agile delivery methodologies, enforcing quality standards at every project checkpoint gate.
  • Vendor & SOW Management: Write, review, and finalize Statements of Work (SOWs), ensuring third-party vendor deliverables align with contracted timelines and quality expectations.
  • Monitoring, Control & Stakeholder Management
  • Progress & Financial Tracking: Validate project milestones and maintain accurate, real-time status reporting on project schedules, costs, and resource commitments.
  • Change & Risk Control: Manage formal Project Change Requests (PCRs) and maintain an active risk register to mitigate delivery blockers and cross-project interdependencies.
  • Collaborative Leadership: Drive regular status updates and escalation paths to Program Managers and executive leaders while ensuring compliance with relevant enterprise regulations and rules.
Qualifications
  • Professional Experience: 8+ years of hands‑on project management experience leading complex technology delivery initiatives, with specific experience managing custom software application development projects.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field (or an equivalent combination of education and direct industry experience).
  • Certifications: Active PMP (Project Management Professional) or PRINCE2 certification is required.
  • Agile Tooling & Delivery Methods: Proven background in Waterfall and Hybrid-Agile delivery, with direct experience utilizing Azure DevOps Boards in a Product Manager and Scrum Master capacity.
  • Financial & Resource Planning: Demonstrated experience in resource allocation and budget planning across multiple parallel workstreams.
  • Deliverable Authorship: Skilled in writing and reviewing key project artifacts, including Project Charters, Statements of Work (SOWs), and formal change records using the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Soft Skills: Practical, solution-focused mindset; exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills with the proven ability to earn trust and influence outcomes across multi-disciplinary teams.
Preferred Assets & Nice-to-Haves
  • Prior project delivery experience within a regulated industry, particularly utilities or electricity transmission development.
