Job summary

Portfolio+ in Stouffville, ON, is seeking a Project Manager to lead client and internal projects within scope, time, and budget in a fintech environment. You will coordinate cross-functional teams, manage stakeholder expectations, and drive project success from initiation through closure.

The role reports to the Director, Professional Services and requires strong planning, communication, and leadership skills to deliver high-quality outcomes for our customers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience developing and managing project schedules.
  • Knowledge and experience with common software implementation methodologies.
  • Works independently and follow established processes and guidelines, while challenging and providing recommendations for continuous improvements.
  • Experience developing and managing project schedules.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply accepted project management concepts.
  • Scope management using a work breakdown structure.
  • Time management using Gantt, and program evaluation methods.
  • Cost management using budgeting and accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and mastery of Confluence and Jira including the Tempo product suite.
  • Experience in business process mapping.
  • Excellent organization skills in particular the ability to manage multiple projects and customers, with competing priorities, simultaneously.
  • Proven communication skills both written and oral to successfully relay project information.
  • Proven presentation skills to clearly articulate technical information to business stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to drive results through a multi-disciplinary team with matrixed reporting relationships and collaboration across all project team members.
  • Ability to prepare and facilitate customer and internal workshops and meetings.
  • Leadership ability to take initiative and ownership of deliverables as well as to coach or to mentor team members.
  • Experience implementing software.
  • Adaptable and flexible, you are comfortable in operating in an environment where priorities may change and you can quickly reorganize your projects to meet the new expectations.
  • Critical thinking, you understand the request, you challenge the reasons provided, you anticipate dependencies, downstream impacts, and/or potential issues, and you collaborate with the team to define a plan that balances out the client expectations with our delivery capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and manages project development throughout the entire project life cycle.
  • Defines project scope, goals, and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
  • Develops full-scale project plans and associated communications documents.
  • Effectively communicates project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
  • Liaises with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
  • Estimates the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.
  • Drafts and submits budget proposals and subsequently recommends budget adjustments.
  • Where required, negotiates with other department managers for the acquisition of required personnel from within the company.
  • Determines and assesses need for additional resources and makes the appropriate recruitments if necessary, during project life cycle.
  • Sets and continually manages project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.
  • Delegates tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
  • Identifies and resolves issues and conflicts within the project team.
  • Identifies and manages project dependencies and critical path.
  • Plans and schedules project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools and reporting.
  • Develops and delivers progress reports, proposals and presentations.
  • Determines the frequency and content of status reports from the project team, analyzes results, and troubleshoots problem areas.
  • Proactively manages changes in project scope, identifies potential crises, and devises contingency plans.
  • Defines project success criteria and disseminates to involved parties throughout project life cycle.
  • Protect project profitability throughout the project lifecycle, including but not limited to identifying and escalating internal issues that would impact the project and to ensuring changes in project scope are documented and charged to the clients in a timely manner.
  • Coaches, mentors, motivates, and supervises project team members and contractors, and influences them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
  • Builds, develops, and grows any business relationships vital to the success of the project.
  • Conducts project postmortems and creates recommendations report to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
  • Contributes collaboratively to Portfolio+ Inc.’s best practices and tools for project execution and management.

Who You Are

The Project Manager is responsible for leading the successful delivery of client and internal projects that support Portfolio+’s strategic objectives and deliver meaningful value to our customers.
