Job summary

Irving Tissue in Canada seeks an experienced Project Engineer to serve as the in-house resource for technology upgrades across drives, controllers, and automation systems.

You will lead capital and expense projects from concept through start-up, developing scopes, budgets, and execution plans while ensuring safety, schedule, and budget compliance. Strong collaboration and communication are essential to deliver reliable, high-quality outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree.
  • Minimum of 3 years leading capital projects.
  • Experience in manufacturing or heavy industrial projects is a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional project teams with multiple stakeholders, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong ownership, initiative, attention to detail, and a drive to get things right first time.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the in-house engineering resource for technology and equipment upgrades, including drives, controllers, and automation systems.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives through process enhancements, automation, and safety improvements.
  • Lead and manage capital and expense projects from concept through start-up and completion.
  • Develop project scopes, budgets, funding requests, and execution plans.
  • Oversee engineering design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and start-up activities.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams, contractors, and vendors to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Deliver solutions that meet technical, operational, quality, and performance objectives.

Qualifications
  • Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Degree
  • A minimum of 3 years experience leading capital projects
  • Prior experience in manufacturing or other heavy industrial projects is considered an asset
  • Ability to successfully execute within a team environment
  • Ability to lead cross-functional project teams involving multiple stakeholders, ensuring projects are completed in a cost-effective, timely, reliable, and safe manner
  • Exceptional communication skills, verbal and written
  • Must demonstrate ownership, initiative, attention-to-detail, and a drive to ensure things are done right the first time.
  • Above-average planning and organizational skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
