Job summary

Binnie is seeking a Project Engineer to join the Burnaby office in the Transportation Major Projects Division. The role involves producing design drawings, supporting design through to construction, and collaborating with engineers and project managers on major BC infrastructure projects.

Applicants should have a Civil Engineering degree, EIT with EGBC, and 0–1+ years in a professional setting. Strong writing and time-management skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Completed Degree in Civil Engineering (required).
  • 0–1+ years of related professional engineering experience.
  • Registered as an EIT with EGBC.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil3D.
  • Strong written communication and ability to manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing design drawings using AutoCAD or Civil3D.
  • Performing design work with Engineer of Record.
  • Documenting site observations as project field representative.
  • Reviewing construction records and preparing reports.
  • Coordinating with contractors and maintaining submittal records.

Binnie is looking for a Project Engineer to join our Transportation Major Projects Division, which provides Owner’s Engineer services for the design and procurement of major infrastructure projects in British Columbia.

Our recent projects include the Patullo Bridge Replacement Project, Fraser River Tunnel Project and Steveston Interchange Project.

The position is full-time in our Burnaby office, located near scenic Deer Lake. You will work closely with our talented and diverse team of experienced Engineers and Project Managers at varied experience levels. This dynamic and challenging role offers excellent mentorship opportunities.

You will work with our supportive team of Engineers and Project Managers. You will carry out design work on projects from conceptual level through to detailed design and construction.

Your Role
  • Preparing design drawings using AutoCAD or Civil3D
  • Performing design work in consultation with the Engineer of Record
  • Acting as a project field representative to document site observations
  • Review of construction records
  • Preparing reports, manuals, and technical memorandums
  • Assisting with contract documentation preparation
  • Coordinate and maintain complete records of design and construction submittals
  • Ensuring quality control procedures are completed as per Binnie’s quality management policies and procedures
  • Ensuring that project designs and calculations adhere to industry standards
What You Bring
  • Completed Degree in Civil Engineering
  • 0-1+ years of related experience in a professional engineering environment
  • An interest in construction and design
  • Registered as an EIT with EGBC
  • Previous experience in civil engineering environment is preferred
  • Ability to interpret construction and specifications, along with general problem solving skills
  • Experience in preparing technical documents that demonstrate technical knowledge
  • Valid Driver’s License an asset
  • Sound working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil3D
  • Strong written communication skills including technical report writing
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to manage multiple ongoing projects
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, clients, other consultants and contractors
  • Ability to work cooperatively and productively in a team environment
  • Ability to consistently maintain a high degree of accuracy and quality in work

The salary for this position is commensurate with experience; the salary range for this position is $70,015 - $99,100 annually. The final salary for this role may vary based on several factors, including relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
