Job summary

Binnie’s Burnaby Infrastructure team seeks an Engineering Assistant to support drafting, design, and field tasks for road and utility projects. You’ll work with experienced managers, designers, and engineers in a hands-on environment at the Burnaby office, near Deer Lake, Jan–April 2027, with potential extension to Aug 2027 depending on project needs.

You will modify AutoCAD/Civil 3D drawings, assemble submission packages, manage project docs, and assist on-site tasks while learning the design

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Civil Engineering degree.
• Exposure to AutoCAD and Civil 3D in a professional setting.
• Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for site visits.
• Willingness to work outdoors on-site as required.

Responsibilities

• Modify basic design drawings in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Plot, assemble, and deliver drawing submission packages.
• Prepare project documentation for hard copy and electronic transfers.
• Maintain file naming and layer conventions.
• Perform field assignments as directed by Project Managers.
• Support quality control procedures.
• Prepare/update as-constructed field record drawings.

Job description

You're a civil engineering student who's ready to get your hands on a real engineering project. You perform best in groups where you know what's expected of you. You're not afraid to ask questions. Binnie is looking for an Engineering Assistant to join our Infrastructure Burnaby Division, which provides professional civil engineering services for local municipalities. Typical projects include road and utility improvements and replacements, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control and major residential, commercial and industrial developments.

This position is in our Burnaby office, located near scenic Deer Lake for the Jan - April 2027 work-term. There may be an opportunity to extend the work term to Aug 2027 depending on project requirements.

You will be working with our experienced Project Managers, Designers, and Engineers on interesting drafting, design, and field assignments. You will be a member of our diverse team in a challenging role that offers great mentorship opportunities.

Your Role

• Modifying basic design drawings in AutoCAD and Civil 3D

What You Bring

• Previous work experience in a civil engineering environment
• Previous exposure to AutoCAD and Civil 3D
• Currently completing Degree in Civil Engineering
• Valid Driver's License and personal vehicle for site visits
• Willing to work outdoors on-site as required
• Ability to consistently produce accurate, high-quality work
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.

The salary for this position is commensurate with experience; the salary range for this position is $25 - $27 hourly.
