Job summary

Whistler Personnel Solutions is seeking a full-time Project Coordinator to support the development and implementation of construction documents, schedules, budgets and permit submissions. Reporting to the Project Manager and Finance Manager, the role requires three years of residential/commercial construction experience, contract knowledge, and strong MS Project and MS Office skills.

The position is based in Whistler, BC, with a 40-hour work week and potential extended hours to meet project

Qualifications

  • Minimum three years’ experience in residential/commercial construction
  • Familiarity with CCDC 5A and 5B contracts
  • Ability to read drawings and interpret contract documents
  • Develop construction costing, scheduling and procurement
  • Strong knowledge of provincial building codes

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day admin support to Project Manager and construction team
  • Maintain project files in company database and digital system
  • Lead procurement via Purchase Orders
  • Monitor plans, specs, shop drawings and reports
  • Prepare monthly progress claims and manage cost estimating
  • Coordinate permits and material deliveries
  • Liaise with engineers, consultants, subcontractors and clients

Job description

Now hiring a full time Project Coordinator with high end residential and commercial construction administrative experience to support the development and implementation of construction documents, schedules, budgets and permit submissions.

Reporting to the Project Manager and Finance Manager, the Project Coordinator has exceptional organizational abilities and can perform duties independently in a faced-paced construction environment with multiple priorities.

Offering a wage in the range of $34 – $39 per hour with a permanent, full time schedule and full benefits.

About the Role, Benefits & Perks:
  • Wages: $34 – $39 per hour based on experience.
  • Location: Whistler
  • Job status: Permanent full-time
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday – 40 hours/week – 8hrs/day
  • Extended hours and/or weekend work may be required at times to maintain project schedule
  • Eligible for the extended benefits package after 3 months of full-time
The Perfect Candidate:
  • Education in construction administration or Engineering or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in residential/commercial construction ($1-$3 million)
  • Familiarity with CCDC 5A and 5B contracts
  • Experienced in project execution: understand/interpret contract documents, ability to read drawings to define project specifications, to develop construction costing and project scheduling, to manage estimating, purchasing, take-offs and monitor key performance indicators
  • Strong knowledge of current provincial and municipal building codes
  • Demonstrated history of construction estimating
  • Ability to apply basic engineering/problem-solving principles to construction challenges
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (scope of work technical writing)
  • Strong ability to multi-task and work under pressure with deadlines
  • Proven success at taking ownership for one’s responsibilities and delivering outcomes within the defined timeframe
  • Sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and MS Project
  • Experience working with Project management software

Responsibilities Include:
  • Provides day-to-day administrative support to Project Manager and the construction team
  • Maintains project files in company database and digital filing system
  • Leads project procurement activities through creation and execution of Purchase Orders
  • Monitor and assist with processing of plans, specifications, shop drawings, reports
  • Review and respond to daily project correspondence
  • Monitor and update the construction schedule and communicate any concerns to PM
  • Work with accounting department to ensure project accounting is accurate and timely
  • Process contract and sub-contract change orders – including assessing cost and schedule impact
  • Performs quantity take-offs from drawings and collates acquired data
  • Prepare monthly progress claims
  • Responsible for project cost estimating
  • Orders, schedules and tracks material deliveries to job site
  • Coordinate and obtain permits: occupancy and substantial completion certificates
  • Liaises with engineers, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers and clients regarding contract and change notices, design revisions, with approval of PM
  • Participates in meetings with the project team, engineers, consultants, subcontractors and clients as required
  • Assist Site Supervisor with expediting trades/suppliers
  • Administer and process post-construction issues
  • Responsible for archiving all relevant construction documents upon completion of the project
