Job description

About the role

At Horizon Contracting Group, we build more than exceptional landscapes. We build careers.

We’re looking for a highly organized, detail-oriented Project Coordinator to join our Landscape Construction team. In this role, you’ll work alongside experienced Project Managers, Superintendents, Estimators, and field teams to help deliver complex commercial landscape construction projects from start to finish.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with early construction experience who enjoys solving problems, keeping projects organized, and working with a variety of people. You’ll gain exposure to every stage of the project lifecycle while building the skills needed to grow into future Project Management opportunities.

What you’ll do

As a Project Coordinator, you’ll help ensure our projects stay organized, on schedule, and financially on track by supporting both our office and field teams.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Setting up new projects and maintaining project documentation and tracking systems
  • Managing RFIs, submittals, drawings, change orders, and project records
  • Supporting project closeout documentation including warranties, maintenance manuals, and turnover packages
  • Coordinating supplier and subcontractor pricing, purchase orders, and procurement activities
  • Assisting with budgeting, cost tracking, production reporting, and identifying cost-saving opportunities
  • Preparing and processing change orders, extras, and pricing adjustments
  • Supporting Project Managers with scheduling, forecasting, cost code tracking, and financial reporting
  • Coordinating with Accounting to support invoicing and project billings
  • Performing quantity takeoffs and assisting with progress tracking and reporting
  • Building strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal project teams
  • Helping identify potential project risks and working collaboratively to keep projects moving forward safely and efficiently.
Qualifications

We’re looking for someone who enjoys being organized, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and takes pride in helping projects succeed.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 1-3 years of experience in construction or a related industry
  • Knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, building materials, scheduling, and project documentation
  • Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Civil Engineering Technology, Business Administration, or a related discipline (considered an asset)
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, or construction management software is considered an asset
  • A positive attitude, curiosity, and a desire to continue developing toward a Project Manager career path.

At Horizon, we believe in growing our people from the ground up. This role is designed as a stepping stone into Project Management, with opportunities to build your skills, take on increasing responsibility, and grow your career alongside an experienced team.

We also offer:

  • Competitive salary ($55,000 - $72,000)
  • Extended health, dental, and vision benefits
  • RRSP matching program
  • Annual bonus program
  • Paid vacation and sick time
  • A collaborative, team-first culture focused on continuous improvement and professional growth.
