About the Role: We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Accountant to join our team. The Project Accountant reports to the Controller and will be responsible for overseeing multiple projects, ensuring accurate cost tracking, billing, cash collection and reporting. Working closely with other members of the accounting team, you will help ensure project policies and procedures are completed monthly. The Project Accountant will also contribute significantly to year end financial reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide project updates to the Controller on monthly basis, or more frequently as issues arise. Share valuable insights into the financial health of projects.
• Prepare client invoices in accordance with company procedures, client requirements and terms and conditions of the contract. Monitor invoice aging and handle cash collections.
• Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding payments as needed
• Maintain project setups in the Company’s project management system, ensuring accurate coding and compliance
• Extensive interaction with project teams, clients and sub-consultants using critical thinking, qualitative input, and influence to ensure financial health of projects.
• Track and resolve monthly, various potential project and accounting issues
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and contractual obligations
• Support project audits and respond to external audit requests
• Other duties as appropriate

Desired Skills and Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• CPA Designation (or working towards it) is an asset
• 5+ years of experience in Project Accounting preferably in Engineering, Architecture, and/or Construction
• Strong Understanding of Revenue Recognition, Cost Control, and Budget Monitoring
• Experience with Deltek Vision or Vantage Point is an asset
• High Attention to Detail with Excellent Organizational and Time Management skills
• Strong Interpersonal and Communication Skills with the ability to work collaboratively
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
