Job description

Your Opportunity:

Cancer Care Alberta (CCA) is currently seeking a Program Manager (PM) to join the leadership team at the Cross Cancer Institute (CCI) in Edmonton. Reporting to the Executive Director, the PM provides strategic and operational leadership for a complex portfolio of clinical programs and services, influencing cancer care delivery both within the CCI and across Cancer Care Alberta. No two days are the same. From addressing operational challenges and access pressures, to leading quality improvement initiatives, supporting workforce planning, driving change initiatives, and collaborating on strategic priorities, the PM serves as a critical connector between people, programs, and organizational objectives. Success in this role requires exceptional relationship-building, emotional intelligence, systems thinking, political acuity, and the ability to navigate complexity with confidence and agility. Leveraging strong communication, change-leadership, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement skills, the PM will foster a culture of accountability, innovation, continuous improvement, and service excellence. The role provides direct and indirect leadership to Associate Managers, nursing staff, allied health professionals, support staff, and administrators across inpatient and ambulatory oncology settings. As one of Canada's leading tertiary cancer centres and a provincial hub for cancer care, research, education, and innovation, the CCI offers a rare opportunity to influence system-wide change, work alongside exceptional clinical and operational leaders, and leave a lasting legacy for patients and families across Alberta. For a leader who is energized by complexity, inspired by purpose, and motivated to build the future of cancer care, this is a truly exceptional opportunity.

Description

The Program Manager (PM) is accountable for the strategic and operational leadership of a complex, integrated cancer care program within the CCI. Working in partnership with clinical and operational leaders, the role provides oversight for program planning, service delivery, performance improvement, and operational integration across the cancer care continuum. The PM is responsible for advancing access, quality, safety, patient experience, workforce sustainability, and service excellence through effective program management, multidisciplinary collaboration, and continuous improvement. Key accountabilities include strategic and operational planning, clinical-operational partnership, quality improvement, patient flow and access management, people leadership, and organizational change initiatives. The PM provides leadership and support to Associate Managers while fostering high-performing teams and ensuring resources are aligned with patient, operational, and organizational priorities. Through data-informed decision-making, innovation, and performance management, the role supports CCA's strategic objectives and the delivery of exceptional cancer care for Albertans. The PM also plays a key role in advancing Alberta's long-term vision for cancer care by supporting timely access to services, integrated and person-centred care delivery and coordination across the cancer journey. Working collaboratively with clinical, operational, and provincial partners, the position contributes to transformation initiatives that strengthen system sustainability, enhance patient outcomes and experience, foster innovation, support a skilled and resilient workforce, enhance integration, expand capacity, and improve equitable access to high-quality cancer care across the province while helping programs adapt to evolving patient and community needs.
