Job summary

Boys and Girls Club Okanagan in Vernon BC is seeking a Program Leader to develop and run engaging recreational, social, and educational programs for children and youth.

You will orient new families, supervise members, support health and safety, mentor Activity Leaders, and coordinate snacks and transportation as needed.

Qualifications

• Education in childcare and/or experience planning, implementing and evaluating childcare programs.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and participate in quality and diverse recreational, social, and/or educational programming.
• Orients new families and members to the program and club.
• Provide direct supervision of members, and ensure their health, safety, and wellness.
• Mentors, guides and leads Activity Leaders within the program and activities.
• Build relationships with the children, youth, and families within their designated programs. Establishes open communication with parents/caregivers.
• Use Club vans to pick up members from school and transport to various sites if required.
• Prepare nutritious snacks and meals for members
• Provides group and/or individual behaviour management and support.
• Ensures Agency Policies and Procedures, Program Operating Standards, WCB standards, Community Care Licensing Regulations, Risk Management requirements and general safety standards are met.

Education

Education in childcare and/or experience planning, implementing and evaluating childcare programs.

One (1) year recent related experience

Course of at least 20 hours including child development, guidance, health and safety or nutrition

First Aid Certificate and Food Safe or willingness to obtain

Must be at least 19 years of age

• Completion of a course or a combination of courses of at least 20 hours duration which include child development, guidance, health and safety or nutrition (licensed programs)
• First Aid Certificate and Food Safe or willingness to obtain
  
• Must be at least 19 years of age as per licensing requirements
• Successful completion of Agency screening including a Criminal Record Check

Hours: 20 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 2pm-6pm

Rate of Pay: $21.02 per hour
