Job summary

Boys and Girls Club Okanagan is hiring a part-time Program Area Leader for Lake Country, BC. The role focuses on planning activities, supervising daily operations, and ensuring compliance with guidelines and licensing.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children in recreation, education or social services.
  • First Aid certificate is required.
  • 20 hours Responsible Adult training or willingness to obtain.
  • Class 4 Driver’s Licence or willingness to obtain.
  • Criminal Record Check required.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and implements activities and events for the program.
  • Oversees day-to-day operation ensuring facilities, equipment, guidelines, and licensing are met.
  • Makes recommendations on program development and evaluation.
  • Promotes program through promotional materials and community events.
  • Liaises with community service providers to coordinate referrals and represent the program externally.
  • Maintains records and produces required reports.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Plans and implements activities and special events for a program.
  • Oversees the day-to-day operation of the program by ensuring that the necessary facilities and equipment are in place, program guidelines and policies are adhered to, and program standards and licensing requirements are met.
  • Makes recommendations to the supervisor regarding program development, policy and procedure formulation, and program evaluation.
  • Promotes public awareness of and support for the program by performing duties such as producing promotional materials and attending community events.
  • Liaises with community service providers and other professionals to coordinate service provision, facilitate referrals to the program, and represent the organization or program in external events.
  • Maintains related records and statistics and produces reports as required.
Qualifications:
  • A diploma, certificate and/or relevant experience working with children in recreation, education or other social services.
  • Valid First Aid certificate
  • 20 Hours Responsible Adult training or willingness to obtain
  • Class 4 Driver’s Licence or willingness to obtain it immediately
  • Successful completion of Agency screening including a Criminal Record Check
  • Must be at least 19 years of age as per Provincial Licensing Regulations
Additional Information:
  • This position is open to all applicants
  • This position requires union membership

Hours: 20 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 2pm to 6pm

Rate of Pay: $19.82 per hour
