Job summary

BGC Okanagan in Vernon, BC is hiring a part-time Program Area Leader to plan and run activities for youth at the club.

The role requires a diploma or certificate in recreation/education or related field, First Aid, and willingness to obtain additional certifications. 20 hours per week with afternoon hours and occasional extended hours on school breaks, with competitive pay.

Qualifications

• Diploma or certificate in recreation/education or related field.
• Valid First Aid certificate.
• 20 Hours Responsible Adult training or willingness to obtain.
• Class 4 Driver’s Licence or willingness to obtain it immediately.
• Criminal Record Check completed.
• Must be at least 19 years of age per Provincial Licensing Regulations.

Responsibilities

• Plans and implements activities and special events for a program.
• Oversees the day-to-day operation of the program by ensuring that facilities and equipment are in place, policies are followed, and licensing requirements are met.
• Makes recommendations to the supervisor regarding program development, policy and procedure formulation, and evaluation.
• Promotes public awareness and support for the program by producing promotional materials and attending community events.
• Liaises with community service providers to coordinate service provision and represent the organization at external events.
• Maintains related records and statistics and produces reports as required.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Plans and implements activities and special events for a program.
• Oversees the day-to-day operation of the program by ensuring that the necessary facilities and equipment are in place, program guidelines and policies are adhered to, and program standards and licensing requirements are met.
• Makes recommendations to the supervisor regarding program development, policy and procedure formulation, and program evaluation.
• Promotes public awareness of and support for the program by performing duties such as producing promotional materials and attending community events.
• Liaises with community service providers and other professionals to coordinate service provision, facilitate referrals to the program, and represent the organization or program in external events.
• Maintains related records and statistics and produces reports as required.

Qualifications:

• A diploma, certificate and/or relevant experience working with children in recreation, education or other social services.
• Valid First Aid certificate
• 20 Hours Responsible Adult training or willingness to obtain
• Class 4 Driver’s Licence or willingness to obtain it immediately
• Successful completion of Agency screening including a Criminal Record Check
• Must be at least 19 years of age as per Provincial Licensing Regulations

Additional Information:

• This position is open to all applicants
• This position requires union membership

Hours: 20 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 2:15pm to 6:15pm; Extended hours on school break

Rate of Pay: $19.82 per hour
