Job summary

Durham College is seeking an experienced professor to teach in the Practical Nursing programs (Medical, Surgical, Mental Health Nursing). The role requires availability Monday‑Thursday and Friday as needed, with a focus on inclusive pedagogy, blended delivery, and current assessment practices.

The ideal candidate will hold a Master’s in Nursing (PhD asset), with at least five years of relevant teaching experience and a strong commitment to equity and student success within the Ontario college

Qualifications

• Post-secondary teaching experience with a focus on nursing education.
• Demonstrated use of UDL principles and current assessment methodologies.
• Commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion in teaching and student experience.
• Experience with industry-led or community-based applied research is an asset.
• Understanding of the Ontario college system and its programs.

Responsibilities

Durham College is seeking an experiencedand motivated professional who shares our commitment to quality and studentsuccess. The Faculty of Health Sciences requires a requires a full-timeprofessor to teach in the following areas as a part of the Practical Nursingprograms:
Medical Nursing
Surgical Nursing
Mental Health Nursing
Candidates must be available to teach Monday through Thursday betweenthe hours of 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m.to 6:00 p.m. Course assignments are based on scheduling and instructionalneeds. The responsibilities of Durham College Professors include, but are not limited to:

• Creating a positive learning environment that accommodates students’ diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, experiences, and individual learning styles;
  
• Utilizing principles of adult education to actively engage students in the learning process;
  
• Effectively using educational technologies to support learning, manage and post grades, and deliver hybrid and on-line courses;
  
• Developing curriculum that uses appropriate strategies and tools to assess student learning;
  
• Ensuring that course and program curriculum is current and relevant;
  
• Working independently and demonstrating initiative; and
  
• Working effectively with students, the program team, and a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will meet or exceed the following qualifications:

• A relevant Master’s degree in Nursing (relevantPhD is an asset). A professional designationis an asset.
  
• A minimum of five years of recent and relevantwork experience.
  
• Teaching experience at the post-secondarylevel with a demonstrated understanding and application of UDL principles andcurrent assessment methodologies.
  
• Experience participating in industry-led orcommunity-based appliedresearch is an asset.
  
• Demonstrated commitment to advancing the Truthand Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action; equity, diversity, andinclusion; and fostering a positive student experience.
  
• Demonstrated use of current technologies tosupport student learning and the management of grades.
  
• Proven track record of life-long learning.
  
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively witha variety of internal and external stakeholders including students,faculty, support staff, administrators and community partners.
  
• Understanding of the Ontario college system.
