Job summary

Durham College invites applications for a full-time Professor to teach in the Collaborative Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) program at Oshawa campus. Responsibilities include delivering hybrid and online courses, developing curricula, and applying inclusive teaching practices across diverse student cohorts.

The ideal candidate holds a Master’s in Nursing with a relevant PhD as an asset, at least five years of post-secondary teaching experience, and a strong commitment to equity, inclusion,

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Nursing (relevant PhD asset).
• Minimum of five years of recent and relevant work experience.
• Clinical expertise in acute medicine; simulation-based learning is an asset.
• Teaching experience at the post-secondary level with UDL principles and current assessment methodologies.
• Experience with industry-led or community-based applied research is an asset.
• Commitment to Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action; equity, diversity and inclusion; fostering positive student experience.
• Experience using current technologies to support student learning and grade management.
• Lifelong learning mindset with ability to work with various stakeholders.
• Understanding of Ontario college and university systems.

Responsibilities

Position Information :

Durham College is seeking an experiencedand motivated professional who shares our commitment to quality and studentsuccess. The Faculty of Health Sciences requires a requires a full-timeprofessor to teach in the following areas as a part of the Nursing programs:

Collaborative Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) (Hons)

Candidates must be available to teach Monday through Thursday betweenthe hours of 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m.to 6:00 p.m. Course assignments are based on expertise, scheduling and operationalneeds. The responsibilities of Durham College Professors include, but are not limited to:

• Creating a positive learning environment that accommodates students’ diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, experiences, and individual learning styles;
  
• Utilizing principles of adult education to actively engage students in the learning process;
  
• Effectively using educational technologies to support learning, manage and post grades, and deliver hybrid and on-line courses;
  
• Developing curriculum that uses appropriate strategies and tools to assess student learning;
  
• Ensuring that course and program curriculum is current and relevant;
  
• Working independently and demonstrating initiative; and
  
• Working effectively with students, the program team, and a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will meet or exceed the following qualifications:
