Position Information

The Dual Credit program at Durham College is seeking an experienced and motivated professional who shares our commitmentto increase secondary student engagement, confidence and success in a collegecourse to teach TFBP 1303 Basic Plumbing.
Part-timefaculty teach up to 6 hours per week with varied schedules Monday throughFriday during regular high school hours. The majority of courses are deliveredas two weekly 75-minute classes in alignment with the high school timetable andperiods. Part-time recruitment is ongoing and is dependent on when courses arebeing taught and the need for faculty to teach. Course assignments are based onscheduling and instructional needs.
Academic starting wages aredetermined based on qualifications and years of related experience. Upon hire,the incumbent will receive a pay calculation to determine their ‘step’placement within the pay range. Part-time professors teaching a dual creditcourse will be paid on the applicable wage grid, which currently ranges from$72.56 through $128.86 per teaching contact hour.
Professors in this program may teach a variety of delivery models, which couldinvolve teaching at a partner high school located in the community, or in somecases, on the college campuses. The ideal candidate will meet or exceed the following qualifications:

• Mechanical Techniques – Plumbing Certificateor Provincially Certified Plumber (306A).
• Plumber (306A) Certificate of Apprentice isconsidered an asset.
• Plumber (306A) Red Seal is considered anasset.
• A minimum of five years of recent (within thepast three years) and relevant work experience.
• Teaching experience at the post-secondarylevel with a demonstrated understanding and application of UniversalDesign for
• Learning and current assessment methodologies.
• Experience participating in industry-led orcommunity-based appliedresearch is an asset.
• Demonstrated commitment to putting the studentexperience first.
• Demonstrated use of current technologies tosupport student learning and the management of grades.
• Proven track record of life-long learning.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively witha variety of internal and external stakeholders including students,faculty, support staff, administrators and community stakeholders.
• Understanding of the Ontario college system.
