Part-Time Professor - Psychometrics & Quantitative Research (COMPETITION NO. PT-SCS-21)

Durham College is seeking an experienced and motivated professional who shares our commitment to quality and student success. To teach in the Honours Bachelor of Behavioural Sciences, the Faculty of Social and Community Services requires part-time professors with a Master's degree or Doctorate with experience in Psychometrics, Quantitative Psychology, Educational Measurement, Psychological Assessment, Statistics, Research Methods, Psychology, Behavioral Sciences, or a closely related field with demonstrated knowledge of psychometric theory and quantitative research methodologies.

The following courses are available for delivery:

• STAT 36001 - Psychometrics
• RSCH 26001 - Quantitative Research Methods

Part-time faculty teach up to 6 hours per week with varied schedules Monday through Thursday between 8:00 am and 9:00 pm and Fridays between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm. Part-time recruitment is ongoing and is dependent on when courses are being taught and the need for faculty to teach. Course assignments are based on scheduling and instructional needs.

Academic starting wages are determined based on qualifications and years of related experience. Upon hire, the incumbent will receive a pay calculation to determine their ‘step’ placement within the pay range. Part-time professors will be paid on the applicable wage grid, which currently ranges from $80.62 through $139.88 per teaching contact hour.

The Responsibilities

• The creation and/or revision of course outlines, curriculum development and delivery
• Updating and revisions of course material, including but not limited to course content, interactive class activities, test / quizzes / exams, assessments and rubrics
• The creation and maintenance of courses on the Durham College Learning Management System (LMS), DC Connect
• Creating a positive learning environment that accommodates students' diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, experiences, and individual learning styles
• Utilizing principles of adult education to actively engage students in the learning process
• Effectively using educational technologies to support learning, manage and post grades, and deliver hybrid and online courses
• Developing curriculum that uses appropriate strategies and tools to assess student learning
• Ensuring that course and program curriculum is current and relevant
• Working independently and demonstrating initiative
• Working effectively with students, the program team, and a variety of internal and external stakeholders

The ideal candidate will meet or exceed the following qualifications

• A relevant Master's degree or Doctorate in Psychometrics, Quantitative Psychology, Educational Measurement, Psychological Assessment, Statistics, Research Methods, Psychology, Behavioral Sciences, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated knowledge of psychometric theory and quantitative research methodologies.
• A minimum of five years of recent (within the past three years) and relevant work experience.
• Teaching experience at the post-secondary level with a demonstrated understanding and application of UDL and current assessment methodologies.
• Demonstrated commitment to putting the student experience first.
• Demonstrated use of current technologies to support student learning and the management of grades.
• Proven track record of life-long learning.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders including students, faculty, support staff, administrators and community stakeholders.
• Experience participating in industry-led or community-based applied research is an asset.
• Understanding of the Ontario college system is an asset.

Preference will be given to candidates with relevant educational credentials and a proven track record of relevant work/teaching experience.
