Job summary

Cambrian College is seeking a part-time Professor to deliver Paralegal courses in person. The role focuses on employing diverse teaching strategies to meet learner needs and align with program goals.

The successful candidate will ensure curricula stay current, support student progress, and incorporate multimedia materials and learning technologies in the classroom.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Paralegal Diploma or Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) or Juris Doctor (J.D).
• Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
• Minimum 3 years practice experience as a Lawyer or Paralegal.
• Minimum of 1 year teaching experience is preferred.
• Commitment to excellence and lifelong learning in the field.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate delivery of courses within the Paralegal program.

• Create an effective learning environment for diverse learners.

Job description

Reporting to the Associate Dean - Business and Creative Industries, with in-person classes, the part-time Professor will facilitate the delivery of courses within the Paralegal program, incorporating a variety of teaching, learning and assessment strategies, which are designed to successfully meet the needs of learners.

• Ensures that course curricula are current, relevant, and reflective of best practices within the relevant professional/program disciplines
• Creates an effective environment for learning which accommodates students' diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, experiences, and individual learning styles
• Develops and implements alternative delivery strategies, ensuring that they support and reflect program goals
• Assures that students are aware of all relevant learning outcomes, learning strategies and assessment techniques
• Assesses student achievement of learning outcomes and supports student progress through individual tutoring, academic counselling, and timely feedback
• Develops multi-media materials and alternative delivery strategies, and incorporates appropriate educational technologies into the learning process
• Liaises effectively with internal and external partners to create and maintain a collaborative and relevant learning environment

• Minimum of a Paralegal Diploma or Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) or Juris Doctor (J.D)
