Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Medical Radiation Sciences or equivalent.
  • Active member in good standing with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario.
  • Five years as a Medical Radiation Technologist or similar role.
  • Two years of experience teaching at the post-secondary level (preferred).
  • Experience adapting curriculum/course learning to suit students' needs.
  • Commitment to lifelong learning in the field.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and flexibly.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with educational technology including learning management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches courses using best practices and adult education principles.
  • Updates syllabi and course materials based on outlines and existing teaching content.
  • Ensures curricula are current and reflect best practices in the discipline.
  • Creates a learning environment that respects diverse backgrounds and styles.
  • Develops and implements learning outcomes and alternate delivery strategies.
  • Ensures students understand learning outcomes and assessment methods.
  • Supports student progress with tutoring and academic counselling.
  • Creates multimedia materials and uses educational tech to support learning.
  • Collaborates with internal and external partners to enhance learning environment.
  • Utilizes the learning management system to support outcomes.

Job description

This posting is in anticipation of current and future part-time teaching opportunities starting as early as January 2026. Reporting to the Associate Dean, Nursing and Allied Health, the part-time Professor will facilitate the delivery of courses within the above programming incorporating a variety of teaching, learning and assessment strategies, which are designed to successfully meet the needs of learners. Interested candidates must have the ability to teach in-person classes.

  • Teaches the course using best practices and adult education principles
  • Builds on developments syllabus and course material, based on the course outline and the existing teaching materials, which becomes part of the course teaching material used by future faculty
  • Ensures that course curricula are current, relevant, and reflective of best practices within the relevant professional/program disciplines
  • Creates an effective environment for learning which accommodates students’ diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, experiences, and individual learning styles
  • Develops and implements course learning outcomes and alternative delivery strategies, ensuring that they support and reflect program goals
  • Assures that students are aware of all relevant learning outcomes, learning strategies and assessment techniques
  • Assesses student achievement of learning outcomes and supports student progress through individual tutoring, academic counselling, and timely feedback
  • Develops multi-media materials and alternative delivery strategies, and incorporates appropriate educational technologies into the learning process
  • Liaises effectively with internal and external partners to create and maintain a collaborative and relevant learning environment
  • Uses the learning management system to support learner outcomes

Successful candidates will have a(n):

  • Undergraduate degree in Medical Radiation Sciences or similar combination of related education (graduate degree in related field preferred)
  • Active member in good standing with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario
  • Five years as a Medical Radiation Technologist or similar role
  • 2 years of experience teaching at the post-secondary level (preferred)
  • Experience adapting curriculum/course learning to suit students' needs
  • A proven commitment to achieving and developing excellence in others
  • A commitment to lifelong learning in the field
  • A proven ability to work within a collaborative environment, demonstrating flexibility
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills
  • Advanced computer literacy and a demonstrated willingness to acquire and use learning tools (such as Loyalist’s “Canvas” System) commensurate with departmental requirements
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal and problem-solving, conflict and stress management skills
  • Experience developing, delivering, and evaluating curriculum is an asset
  • Experience facilitating learning at the post-secondary/adult level demonstrating a commitment to excellence in teaching and learning is a strong asset
