Job summary

Bombardier in Mississauga is seeking a Senior Engineer, Stress to join our aerospace stress analysis team. You will conduct detailed stress analyses of aircraft structures using FEM tools and collaborate across design, manufacturing, and quality to ensure airworthiness.

The role emphasizes MRB support, design evaluation, documentation, and continuous improvement, with opportunities to mentor junior engineers and influence safety and efficiency across programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in stress analysis for aircraft structures.
• Proficiency in FEM software (Nastran, Abaqus, Ansys).
• Familiarity with aviation regulations (FAA, EASA, Transport Canada).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Structural Analysis: Conduct detailed stress analysis using FEM and hand methods; evaluate components and modifications.

What are your contributions to the team?

MRB Support:

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, and quality, to resolve material and structural issues identified during production or in-service.

Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) activities, providing technical guidance and recommendations.

Analyze stress reports, non-conformities, and deviations, proposing effective solutions to maintain airworthiness.

Work closely with DADs to ensure compliance with safety standards.

Structural Analysis:

Conduct detailed stress analysis using finite element methods (FEM) and classical hand calculations.

Evaluate structural components, assemblies, and modifications.

Assess fatigue life, static strength, and damage tolerance.

Identify critical areas and propose design improvements.

Technical Documentation:

Prepare stress reports, compliance documents, and engineering change requests (ECRs).

Document findings, assumptions, and methodologies.

Maintain accurate records for certification purposes.

Continuous Improvement:

Stay updated with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes.

Collaborate with R&D teams to enhance stress analysis tools and methodologies.

Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing within the organization.

How to thrive in this role?

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in stress analysis for aircraft structures.
• Proficiency in FEM software (such as Nastran, Abaqus, or Ansys).
• Familiarity with aviation regulations (FAA, EASA, Transport Canada).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

The base salary for this position is expected to range from CAD $77,000 to CAD $127,000 per year. The applicable base salary will be determined based on various criteria, at Bombardier’s sole discretion, such as the candidate’s skills, experience and qualifications.

In some cases, the base salary offered may differ from the expected range of base salary listed above.
