Job summary

Bombardier in Dorval, QC seeks a Professional Engineer to perform aeroelastic and aeroservoelastic analyses for aircraft structural dynamics. You will develop finite element models in MSC Nastran and support testing activities across design teams, ensuring airworthiness and design integrity.

The role requires a aerospace-educated engineer with experience in aeroelastic methods, CFD tooling, and programming in Matlab/Python/C/C++. Bilingual English/French is preferred; hybrid work is available.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s in Aerospace or Mechanical Eng with aerospace specialization.
Experience in aerospace industry.
Experience in aeroservoelasticity analyses.
Experience developing finite element models in MSC Nastran for aeroelastic applications.
Proficiency in Matlab, Python, Fortran, or C/C++.
French and English communication skills.

Responsibilities

Perform aeroelastic and aeroservoelastic simulations in support of new design studies and continued airworthiness.
Use engineering judgment to select methods, techniques, and tools for complex issues.
Prepare and maintain finite element models to perform aeroelastic analyses.
Maintain, develop and document methods and in-house software.
Support and interact with other engineering disciplines such as Design, Aerodynamics, Structures, and Flight Controls.
Support ground vibration testing (GVT) and flight flutter testing (FFT) and post-process results.
Document analyses and findings in certification reports and presentations (English).

What are your contributions to the team?

Perform aeroelastic and aeroservoelastic simulations in support of new aircraft design studies and continued airworthiness of in-service aircraft
Use engineering judgment on selecting the appropriate methods, techniques, and tools in resolving complex issues
Prepare and maintain finite element models to perform aeroelastic and aeroservoelastic analysis
Maintain, develop and document methods and in-house software
Support and interact with other engineering disciplines, such as Advanced Design, Aerodynamics, Structures, Mass Properties, Flight Controls and Control Laws
Support ground vibration testing (GVT) and flight flutter testing (FFT) and post-process results
Document analyses and findings in engineering certification reports and presentations (English)

How to thrive in this role?

You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s (preferred) degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering with Aerospace specialization. A high education would be an asset
You have relevant experience in the aerospace industry
You have some experience in aeroservoelasticity analyses
You have experience developing finite element models in MSC Nastran for aeroelastic applications.
You have experience conducting classical aeroelastic analyses including static aeroelasticity, divergence, control surface reversal, flutter, and stability assessments.
You have experience generating and validating structural dynamic models, including modal analyses, frequency response calculations, and stability evaluations.
You have experience with aerodynamic methods used for aeroelastic analyses such as Doublet Lattice Method (DLM), Vortex Lattice Methods (VLM), Nonlinear Vortex Lattice Methods (NL-VLM), or equivalent approaches.
You have experience using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) tools and methodologies, including high-fidelity aerodynamic modeling, for aeroelastic or aeroservoelastic studies.
You have experience programming in Matlab, Python, Fortran, or C/C++
You are eligible to acquire Canadian Controlled Goods (CGD) clearance
You have some knowledge of Airworthiness regulations
You have good organizational skills in planning work activities and completing tasks within budget and on schedule, and can work under pressure
You have good analytical thinking, problem solving, communication skills both written and spoken, in French and English
