Job summary

Bombardier Transportation GmbH in Dorval, Canada, is seeking a Professional, Engineering, Mechanical/Aerospace, Service Engineering to support aircraft interiors, structure, and systems. You will analyze drawings, address in-service issues, and coordinate with multiple teams to implement approved modifications.

You will work in a collaborative environment with French and English proficiency, and you may travel to meet project needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or aerospace engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 2–3 years of engineering experience related to aircraft interiors, structure and/or systems.
  • 4–10 years of experience in aircraft interiors, structure and/or systems (asset).
  • Knowledge of CATIA V5 (2D & 3D), AutoCAD and MS Office; Siemens NX is an asset.
  • Autonomous work style with minimal supervision.
  • Strong project management and awareness of deliverables impact on schedules.
  • Curious mindset, eager to learn and solve problems.
  • Ability to absorb information quickly and support varied requests.
  • Open-minded, adaptable to new directions to complete projects.
  • Team player who collaborates well and supports colleagues.
  • Demonstrates innovation, professionalism and commitment.
  • Strong French and English skills (oral and written).
  • Knowledge of aircraft certification (Type Design and Supplemental Type Design, major repairs/modification) is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Handle customer needs by supporting improvements or solving in-service mechanical problems.
  • Respond to urgent grounded aircraft (AOG) situations.
  • Analyze and prepare interior modification drawings, test procedures and compliance reports.
  • Review engineering designs and contribute to development and integration of in-service solutions.
  • Organize investigations into service issues, determine root causes, and devise effective solutions.
  • Assess implications of proposed solutions on other aircraft systems.
  • Support preliminary installations of service bulletins (proofs).
  • Coordinate with other departments, service centers, vendors and suppliers; support Transport Canada approvals.
  • Some travel and occasional overtime may be necessary to meet deadlines (AOG).

What are your contributions to the team?
  • Handle customer needs, either by supporting requests for improvements or by solving in-service mechanical problems;

  • Coordinate and liaise with other departments, service centers, vendors and suppliers on projects. Support Transport Canada delegates for the approval of these projects.

Some travel and occasional overtime may be necessary to meet deadlines (AOG).

How to thrive in this role?
  • You hold a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or aerospace engineering or equivalent working experience;
  • You have two (2) to three (3) years of experience with engineering related to aircraft Interiors, Structure and/or Systems;
  • You have four (4) to ten (10) years of experience with engineering related to aircraft Interiors, Structure and/or Systems (an asset);
  • You have knowledge of CATIA V5 (2D & 3D), AutoCAD and MS Office, Siemens NX (an asset);
  • You are an autonomous person, capable of working with a minimum of supervision;
  • You have good project management skills and understanding of impact of deliverables on project schedules;
  • You have a thirst for knowledge, like to discover the “why” and find solutions to problems;
  • You are able to quickly absorb information and, in some cases, ready to learn to support various requests;
  • You are open-minded, able to easily change direction and pursue new avenues in order to successfully accomplish your projects;
  • You are a team player, who easily integrates himself/herself to a group and is ready to help colleagues
  • You support and demonstrate a spirit of innovation, professionalism and commitment;
  • You have a good grasp of French and English, oral and written, enabling you to interact with customers, impacted groups and you are comfortable leading discussions;
  • You have knowledge of aircraft certification (Type Design and Supplemental Type Design, major repairs/modification, etc.) (an asset).
