Job summary

Bombardier is seeking an Aerospace/Mechanical Engineer to design, analyze and support aircraft interior modifications and system integrations.

You will respond to AOG events, develop modification drawings and test procedures, and review designs to ensure on-time delivery and compliance. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of CATIA V5 (2D & 3D) and AutoCAD.
  • Experience working on aircraft interiors, structures, or systems.

Responsibilities

  • Handle customer needs by supporting requests for improvements or solving in-service mechanical problems.
  • Respond to urgent grounded aircraft (AOG) situations.
  • Analyze and prepare interior modification drawings, test procedures and compliance reports.
  • Review engineering designs and participate in development and integration of in-service solutions.
  • Investigate service issues, determine root causes, and devise innovative solutions.
  • Coordinate with other departments, service centers, vendors and suppliers on projects.

What are your contributions to the team?
  • Handle customer needs, either by supporting requests for improvements or by solving in-service mechanical problems;
  • Respond to urgent grounded aircraft (AOG) situations;
  • Analyze and prepare interior modification drawings, test procedures and compliance reports;
  • Review engineering designs and actively participate in the development and integration of in-service solutions;
  • Organize investigations into service issues and determine the root cause of a failure and devise effective and innovative solutions;
  • Use your judgment and initiative to recognize the implications of your proposed solutions on other aircraft systems and installations;
  • Support preliminary installations of service bulletins (proofs);
  • Coordinate and liaise with other departments, service centers, vendors and suppliers on projects. Support Transport Canada delegates for the approval of these projects.

Some travel and occasional overtime may be necessary to meet deadlines (AOG).

How to thrive in this role?
  • You hold a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or aerospace engineering or equivalent working experience;
  • You have two (2) to three (3) years of experience with engineering related to aircraft Interiors, Structure and/or Systems;
  • You have four (4) to ten (10) years of experience with engineering related to aircraft Interiors, Structure and/or Systems (an asset);
  • You have knowledge of CATIA V5 (2D & 3D), AutoCAD and MS Office, Siemens NX (an asset);
  • You are an autonomous person, capable of working with a minimum of supervision;
  • You have good project management skills and understanding of impact of deliverables on project schedules;
  • You have a thirst for knowledge, like to discover the “why” and find solutions to problems;
  • You are able to quickly absorb information and, in some cases, ready to learn to support various requests;
  • You are open-minded, able to easily change direction and pursue new avenues in order to successfully accomplish your projects;
  • You are a team player, who easily integrates himself/herself to a group and is ready to help colleagues
  • You support and demonstrate a spirit of innovation, professionalism and commitment;
  • You have a good grasp of French and English, oral and written, enabling you to interact with customers, impacted groups and you are comfortable leading discussions;
  • You have knowledge of aircraft certification (Type Design and Supplemental Type Design, major repairs/modification, etc.) (an asset).
