Job summary

Bombardier is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for aerospace installation design at the Marcel-Laurin plant in Montreal. You will design using CATIA V5, produce detailed drawings, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure installation integrity across Challenger, Global, and other programs.

You will interpret technical specs, support production on multi‑platform aircraft programs, and contribute to productivity, cost control, and on-time delivery while maintaining high engineering

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
• Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in aerospace projects.
• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities in English and French.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical design using CATIA V5 and oversee the production of detail drawings and installation drawings for work packages under your responsibility.
• Interpret technical specifications related to aerospace to develop solutions meeting design requirements.
• Support production operations on Bombardier multi‑platform aircraft programs (Challenger 350/650 and Global 5500/6500/7500).
• Understand and resolve airframe and systems problems, providing technical support to multi‑site assembly lines (QRO, Dorval, Toronto).
• Collaborate with Stress, Materials & Processes, Systems, Flight Science, Design, Methods, Quality and Operations to achieve objectives.
• Plan and adhere to project schedules while respecting budgets.

What are your contributions to the team?

• Perform mechanical design using CATIA V5 and oversee the production of detail drawings and installation drawings for work packages under your responsibility.
• Interpret technical specifications necessary related to aerospace domain to develop solution to meet the design requirements that will be entrusted to you.
• Support production operations on Bombardier multi‑platform aircraft programs (Challenger 350 / 650 and Global 5500 / 6500 / 7500).
• Understand and resolve airframe and systems problems providing technical support to multi‑site assembly line (QRO, Dorval, Toronto).
• Work in close cooperation with other disciplines such as Stress, Materials & Processes, Systems, Flight Science, Design, Methods, Quality and Operations to achieve the company’s business objectives.
• Participate in projects that aim to increase productivity, reduce waste and improve financial performance.
• Plan and adhere to project schedule deadlines while respecting allocated budgets.
• Collaborate with experienced, dynamic and efficient multidisciplinary teams dedicated to projects in order to obtain results.
• Work in collaboration with the internal and external supplier to support the manufacturing team as needed.

How to thrive in this role?

• You have a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering with 1 to 5 years experience in a similar position
• You have knowledge of CATIA V5 design and modeling software
• You have practical experience/knowledge in aircraft structure/system installation design
• You have experience in machined parts, sheet metal parts design and fabrication
• You have a good sense of responsibilities, good practical and technical judgment and are flexible
• You demonstrate dynamism, good listening and a strong interest in teamwork
• You have the ability to manage priorities.
• You have the ability to work under pressure to meet design deadlines
• You are familiar with Microsoft Office software such as PowerPoint and Excel
• You have great relational and editorial skills in English and French
• Knowledge of composites design and Fibersim software is an asset.
