Our Hamilton Kent, Toronto Plant is seeking a Night Shift Production Supervisor. The shifts are from Sunday to Thursday night shift, from 11 pm to 7 am.
This position is responsible for ensuring fabrication, injection, and compression molded parts are of the highest quality while using the most cost-effective methods to maximize productivity outputs. The supervisor will oversee fabrication, injection, and compression molding, verify procedures, monitor costs, and assist the Maintenance Manager with purchasing spares. The role involves leading and coordinating production activities focused on continuous improvement, safety, product quality, production output, housekeeping, and cost control to meet plant goals.
Responsibilities
- Manage staff activities to meet daily quality and production schedules within budget
- Identify performance and quality issues; develop action plans for variances
- Provide performance metrics to help management identify issues and communicate significant changes or variances
- Coordinate with lead hands to optimize production performance and address safety or quality concerns
- Monitor daily production schedules for labor, raw materials, and machine utilization
- Review previous day's performance with Plant Manager and supervisors; address variances and ensure goals are met
- Ensure customer satisfaction through schedule adherence
- Enforce health, safety, and environmental procedures to maintain a safe workplace
- Plan for smooth operations by identifying all molding and fabrication needs at least three days in advance
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
- Hold employees accountable and utilize support departments effectively
- Oversee fabrication, extrusion, and molding departments, optimizing labor usage and priorities
- Conduct surveys and participate in creating and implementing action plans in accordance with ISMS standards
- Develop and implement work rules and instructions based on job task analysis, incident investigations, and risk assessments
- Collaborate with production staff on machinery and tooling improvements to enhance safety and productivity
- Lead accident/incident and quality investigations to determine root causes
- Assign tasks to meet or exceed production schedules; monitor progress and take corrective actions
- Ensure lead hands possess or develop skills to meet company needs
Qualifications
- College or university education preferred
- Minimum 5 years supervisory or management experience in a related industry
- Knowledge of fabrication, extrusion, injection, and compression molding; experience in rubber manufacturing preferred
- Ability to use or learn various measuring tools used in gasket manufacturing
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
- Mechanical aptitude

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
