Job summary

NSG Group is seeking a shift supervisor for our manufacturing site in Collingwood. You will uphold health and safety standards, monitor shift metrics, and drive performance on the shop floor.

You will conduct audits, lead training, and proactively address nonconformities in the production process while coordinating with the team to maintain smooth operations and staffing coverage.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3–4 years direct supervision in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work rotating shifts in a continuous production setting.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Technical knowledge of manufacturing technologies, machinery and processes (desirable).
• Six Sigma certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Ensure health and safety rules compliance and Act according to Occupational Health & Safety Act.
• Be accountable for shift manufacturing metrics and performance.
• Manage shop floor operations and reduce bottlenecks shift-by-shift.
• Conduct audits (SOP, safety, 5S, process) as needed.
• Lead regular shift communication meetings and track training for hourly staff.
• Identify, record and solve nonconformities in product, process, and quality system.
• Schedule staffing and coordinate with Gate House Attendant for absenteeism and openings.
• Adhere to NSG/Pilkington Standards and company Values; perform duties as assigned.

Job description

EssentialFunctions:

• Accountablefor the health and safety of employees and ensure compliance with all established Health & Safety rules/regulations and the Occupational Health & Safety Act

• Accountable for manufacturing metrics for their shift.

• Manage shop floor performance

• Conduct required audits as necessary – SOP, safety, 5S, Process etc.

• Conduct regular employee communication meetings on shift.

• Track training for all hourly employees on shift

• Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformity relating to product,processand quality system.Identifyand record any problems relating to the product,processand quality system. Initiate,recommend,or provide solutions through designated channels. Verify the implementation of solutions. Control further processing,deliveryor installation of nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.

• Ensure production flow of processes by reducing/eliminatingbottlenecks on ashift-by-shiftbasis.

• Employee Scheduling:

• Ensure shift is properly staffed by qualified employees. Work with Gate House Attendantregardinganyabsent employees and open positions on shift.

• Adherence to NSG/Pilkington Standards of Business Conduct and its Values and Principles.

• Other duties as assigned bymanager.
